PSV looking for a replacement for Jerdy Schouten
1 min readOn 4 April of last year, captain Jerdy Schouten suffered a serious ACL injury in the home match against FC Utecht (4-3), which means the captain will be sidelined for at least nine months. As a result, Schouten will also miss next summer’s World Cup with the Netherlands national team.
Now the Eindhovens Dagblad brings out the news that PSV is looking for a replacement for the captain. ''In Eindhoven, his colleague Earnest Stewart is indeed working to see whether something can be done after the injury to Jerdy Schouten'', as the ED writes.
In addition to looking for a replacement for Schouten, PSV is also still busy with Myron Boadu and Anass Salah-Eddine. Boadu's contract runs out this coming summer, but according to the ED, PSV still seems to be interested in extending the deal with the striker.
Negotiations with Salah-Eddine are also still ongoing. PSV is renting the left back from AS Roma and has also agreed an option to buy in the loan contract.
The club management of PSV would have to pay eight million to AS Roma if they want to definitively take over Salah-Eddine. The left-back himself is still unsure about his future, and partly because of that PSV has also already looked at alternatives for the left-back position.

€8m for Salah-Eddine is a lot, tbh. If he is still doubting his future, i wouldnt overpay just to secure a left-back. Better to have an alternative ready, especially with us already looking elsewhere too.
mijn grootste zorg is dat we meteen die duels en tweede ballen verliezen zonder Schouten. Zoek je een echte kruispad-speler of ga je het oplossen met jeugd en schuiven? Earnest Stewart moet snel schakelen anders gaat het ten koste van onze balans.
PSV gaat dus acht miljoen neertellen voor Salah-Eddine als het moet, terwijl hij nog twijfelt... imo te veel gok. Als je dan toch een vervanger zoekt, liever iemand die direct 100% zekerheid geeft.
Nine months without Schouten is brutal, he was really the spine in our midfield. If Stewart is already moving, i hope PSV doesnt just replace him with a name, but with the same control and pressing.
Schouten geblesseerd is echt rot nieuws... die duels en rust in het midden gaan we missen. Maar ok, Stewart moet nu wel snel schakelen, anders wordt het een chaos van wedstrijden tot de zomer.
