PSV in the running for right-back Valencia CF
1 min readFor PSV, a major transfer summer is on the horizon this coming summer. The chance is now quite high that Ismael Saibari will leave Eindhoven, and in addition the club also seems to be taking into account the departure of Sergino Dest.
Dest has, over the past few months, already stated multiple times that the right-back is looking for a transfer. Currently, the American international is preparing with Team USA for the World Cup, which is being organized in part in his country.
Also due to Dest’s transfer wishes, PSV is already explicitly looking for a new right-back on the transfer market. Earlier, PSV had already been linked with Zakaria El Ouahdi from KRC Genk and with Sidny Lopes Cabral from Trabzonspor.
Now PSV reportedly has shown interest in Thierry Correia of Valencia CF. With that news, the Brazilian journalist Pablo Oliveira comes out with it.
Correia is free to be picked up and, according to the journalist, is already also attracting the interest of the Italian club Venezia FC, which managed to gain promotion to Serie A this season. Last season, the right-back played 24 matches for the Valencia side in which he provided two assists.

"transfervrij op te pikken" klinkt altijd mooi, lol. Valencia backs zijn vaak sterk in periodes maar minder consistent. Ik wil hem eerst scouten op zijn verdedigende duels, niet alleen op die twee assists.
"Dest ... uit is op een transfer" yep, thats the story every window now. I just hope PSV doesnt wait too long, and Venezia or anyone else swoops in first.

24 duels en twee assists is leuk, maar ik wil ook weten hoeveel duels hij won en hoe vaak hij buitenpositie stond. En als Dest vertrekt, gaat PSV dan meer aanvallend spelen of juist compacter? 🤔

ngl i like the idea of Correia because he gives depth without another expensive gamble. Still, with Saibari possibly leaving too, we cannot be sloppy in both fullback spots, thats how you lose control of games.
24 wedstrijden, 2 assists, dat is niet slecht. Zeker als we de rechterkant meer als doorgeefluik willen gebruiken. Als hij ook fit blijft, dan is dit een solide optie. 👏⚽
"transfervrij op te pikken" sounds great, but i need to see his defensive positioning. Valencia's system can hide weaknesses, so imo PSV scouts should be all over his 1-vs-1 defending.
If Dest really goes, Thierry Correia makes sense. 24 games and 2 assists is a decent output for a right-back, but i just hope PSV doesnt get another "defend okay, attack only sometimes" type.
Correia transfervrij en Venezia ook in de race. Dit ruikt naar 'koopje', maar als Italiaanse club al aast, dan is het niet zomaar een backup. Tbh, ik wil geen paniektransfer voor de rechterkant. Maar goed, als Dest echt vertrekt dan moeten we wel iets hebben.
Dest talking about a move for months and PSV supposedly already scouting Correia... just hope we do it before the market heats up. Also, 24 matches and 2 assists is fine, but what about defensive consistency and 1v1s?
pablo oliveria die dit lekt is leuk, maar ik wil PSV-voetbal zien: spelers moeten passen bij onze opbouw. Correia deed vorig seizoen wel 2 assists in 24, maar zegt niks over zijn progressie. Kan hij onder druk uit voetballen of wordt het weer alleen maar korte passes en hopen? 🤔

Eens. Maar tbh: Venezia ook in de markt, dus PSV mag geen tijd verliezen. Anders is het weer wachten tot september en dan zijn de beste keuzes weg. 👀
Correia vrij? Waarom pakken we dan niet gewoon door, lijkt me. Als Saibari en Dest echt gaan, moet je toch minimaal één rechtsback met directe minuten kunnen halen. 🔥⚽
"Dest heeft... uitgesproken dat de rechtsback uit is op een transfer" en dan wil je meteen een back die niet alleen meekan maar ook ritme houdt. Correia lijkt technisch ok, maar PSV heeft vorig jaar juist die snelheid in de omschakeling nodig gehad.

If Dest is really leaving, PSV needs a real rightback with proper output. Correia being free is actually a W though, two assists in 24 games is solid.
Dest die al maanden roept dat hij weg wil en dan toch pas eindigen met een transfervrije back... i know PSV moet slim shoppen, maar ik wil wel zekerheid. Correia zou in theorie passen, maar ik ben benieuwd of hij ook 1 vs 1 druk kan zetten tegen snelle vleugelspelers.
