PSV in talks with French club, transfer looms
1 min readPSV and RC Lens are in talks about a sale of defender Armando Obispo. With that news, among others, the Eindhovens Dagblad and Voetbal International report.
Obispo was active for Curaçao at the World Cup, where the Blue Wave were eliminated in the group stage. The defender has been playing for PSV for more than twenty years, so a transfer could be possible.
According to VI, RC Lens, in 2023/2024 still having faced an opponent of PSV in the Champions League, has put a bid on the table and it is still unclear whether the PSV player is actually open to a move to France. Both clubs still need to negotiate the transfer fee, which is still unknown.
Obispo has never been undisputed at PSV and in recent years has repeatedly faced fierce competition from, among others, Olivier Boscagli and Yarek Gasiorowski. The latter was still ousted from the starting lineup by Obispo last season.

In the 2019/2020 season, the defender was still loaned by PSV to Vitesse, after which he returned to Eindhoven. Obispo still has a contract until mid-2027 and thus it seems there is a chance that PSV is seriously willing to sell him.

Obispo to France would be a weird one for me tbh. He has been getting pushed by Boscagli and Gasiorowski, but that also means we might be selling at the perfect moment and replacing him internally.
If VI is right, Lens are cooking... Obispo to France would be a big decision. But i just wonder if PSV will regret selling someone who is basically homegrown at this point. ⚽
If Lens are already circling like in UCL, this feels like a real move, not just noise. But with Obispo still under contract until 2027, PSV will demand proper money, no charity transfers.
