PSV advised to sell striker: “A great moment”

1 min read

In the summer of 2024, Couhaib Driouech from Excelsior came to PSV for an amount of 3.5 million euros. Over the past two seasons, Driouech—partly due to fierce competition—has not managed to force a permanent place in the starting lineup, and for that reason a sale of the winger does not seem out of the question.

Last week, moreover, news emerged that, among others, Celta de Vigo from Spain and Genoa FC from Italy are reportedly interested in taking over the winger. PSV, meanwhile, demands an amount of at least seven million euros.

In the VoetbalPrimeur podcast DoneDeal, interest in Driouech is also discussed. In the podcast, it is made clear and it is suggested that PSV should move on to a sale of the forward.

''My advice for PSV would be that this would be a nice moment to sell him. Last year he showed it a few times in the Champions League. But it is also clear that Driouech won’t be getting a look in next year. I would definitely take this opportunity, though'', as concluded at VoetbalPrimeur.

Where Driouech in the first season mainly had to put up with Noa Lang, last season the quick winger had to make way for Ivan Perišić. Still, Driouech was able to distinguish himself in the Champions League on a few occasions.

That’s how the wing forward was on target for a splendid 6-2 in the home match against Napoli. In addition, Driouech, coming off the bench, was good for two goals at Anfield Road when PSV managed to win 1-4 against Liverpool FC.

Celta and Genoa sniffing around is not nothing. The Napoli and Liverpool goals show quality, but PSV cant build a squad around bench impact only.

"nice moment to sell him" is exactly how i feel. Driouech has moments, but if Lang and Perisic keep blocking him, youre selling at the right hype not after another mid season.

7 million for a winger who cant even start consistently feels a bit low tbh, especially after those CL cameos. If Celta or Genoa are serious, do it, then reinvest in a proper starter.
