This is what is said about Peter Bosz, who actually makes quite telling statements about his future at PSV
1 min readDespite a third league title in a row with PSV, the Rinus Michels Award for best coach of the year this time did not go to Peter Bosz. Bosz had to watch as fellow coach Dick Schreuder of NEC took the honor.
Schreuder had a strong season with NEC in which he managed to guide the team to a third place, ensuring that the Nijmegen side will be active in the Champions League qualifying round in the 2026/2027 season. After the award was presented, the coach was nothing but proud.
This lets the success coach know, in the club channels of Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie. ''Yes, won the Rinus Michels Award. I'm super proud, but also very grateful. I think we've all had a great year at NEC, and I want to thank the staff and everything and everyone once again. My family, the club, all the people on the board, everyone,'' the coach says after the event.
Nevertheless, Schreuder had not expected to be allowed to receive the award, since current PSV coach Peter Bosz was also in the running. ''In the end, if I’m here and then win it from him – from coaches like Peter Bosz and Anthony Correia – then I’m also proud that I can beat him. Anthony and I are just getting started, but Peter has been a coach for so long. He simply becomes champion three times in a row and has already proven so much. But I don’t win it just myself. I win it with the whole team. I think that’s also the reason why I win it: because we were just one team'', continues the coach of NEC.

In 2023, Schreuder was also named the best coach from the Keuken Kampioen Divisie when he managed to secure promotion with PEC Zwolle. ''Well then, that is indeed special. It was striking that all three would achieve something if they won. Peter would achieve something that no one had ever achieved before, and Anthony as well from the level at which Telstar operates. They simply did that very well,'' said Peter Bosz, who last week was accused by various media personalities of having a nevertheless possible wish to become national team coach of the Netherlands national team.
Nothing, however, proves less true, because during the gala Bosz really did make it clear that he wanted for nothing. In plain language, Bosz spoke out about the near future. Only once his new contract with PSV comes to an end will any thought be given to the national team coach position. In short, Peter Bosz is simply the head coach of PSV for the next two seasons, and under his leadership they will then just carry on hunting for the fourth and fifth league titles in a row.
