Million-target PSV leaves for record amount to Germany
1 min readIn recent months, Mats Rots has been firmly in the spotlight at PSV since it remained unclear for a long time whether Anass Salah-Eddine would stay at PSV. Now PSV knows that Salah-Eddine is going back to AS Roma to go for his chance there, and the club management therefore had its sights set on FC Twente defender Rots.
The left back, however, goes for sixteen million euros to the German club TSG Hoffenheim, and this amount represents a record for FC Twente. This is reported by Algemeen Dagblad.
The defender has already undergone a medical examination with the team from Sinsheim and both clubs have also reached agreement on the transfer fee for Rots. The left-back will sign a contract in Germany through mid-2031.
''Hoffenheim initially went in lower, but made up ground over the past few days as well, also because it faced a lot of competition in the race for Rots' signature'', as the AD writes.

Hoffenheim managed, just barely, to avoid relegation in the Bundesliga last year, while this season the team missed out on Champions League football by a single point, finishing one place short of fourth. However, the club will be playing in the Europa League next season.

Eens. If PSV defend with that line again, other teams will punish the space behind. Dont blame the tactics alone, the spacing between the CBs and the holding mid has to be cleaner. 💀
The way the article talks about their pressing triggers looks promising, but i worry it only works when the midfield stays connected. when one of the pivots drops too early, the space between fullback and winger gets exposed. That's when you see the big chances against PSV.
Goal!!
We need a more consistent 6. When the ball goes back too often, it kills the momentum. tbh the wingers did their jobs, but the link play was mid. 😅
I thought the standout was the way PSV created overloads down the side, not through pure individual dribbling. Still, the finishing looked mid sometimes, and that is the difference between a good night and a great one. 💯
if psv try to play out of the back like that again, they'll get punished. brennan... cant be giving the ball away in those tight central zones 🔥💀
"PSV Inside" is all about timing... and tbh our build-up needs more calm in the final third. When the ball takes one touch too many, the press turns into danger fast. 👀
"We need more control in midfield" is fair, but tbh PSV already has the legs. The issue is the final pass timing, not the work-rate. When the tempo drops for one second, opponents reset and it becomes mid. 🙄
"PSV's control in the build-up" sounds nice, but i saw more sideways passing than chances. Still, the fullbacks were brave pushing up. 👀
If PSV really leaned on that high press, i can see why the game felt so chaotic in midfield. But still, those transitions looked open a couple times...
If PSV really went with that intensity in midfield, i get it. But they still looked a bit exposed on the counter, especially when the fullbacks step too high. 🤔
If the article is right about PSV pressing higher, then i get why they look more dangerous in transition. But i hope they fix the space behind the fullbacks, ajax will punish that all day. 🔥👀
