Italian interest in Joey Veerman seems serious

1 min read

An upcoming multi-million offer from the Premier League could well have far-reaching consequences for Joey Veerman. What exactly is going on?

Premier League club Nottingham Forest is willing to spend many millions on a player from Internazionale. Internazionale, meanwhile, also appears to be taking seriously into account a departure by Davide Frattesi. According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Nottingham Forest is preparing an offer.

Nottingham is reportedly looking to make a bid of €25 million plus bonuses for the Italian midfielder. Inter is demanding around thirty million euros, which could be described as an affordable gap. If it were to actually come to a transfer to the Premier League, Joey Veerman may well start making plans for a move to Milan.

On Friday Tuttomercato reported that Inter have their sights set on Veerman. "The Italians see Veerman as a potential successor to Davide Frattesi," the report stated. PSV has contractual arrangements with Veerman which, according to Voetbal International, allow him to leave for "around" twenty million euros. A few years ago, Lazio Roma already showed interest in Veerman.

The 27-year-old midfielder has already been linked in recent months with a move abroad and, according to Italian media, is one of the candidates to cover for any departure by Frattesi. Premier League club Brentford and Fenerbahce were earlier already more than serious in pursuing Veerman, who will normally be making a transfer this summer. Tuttomercato thinks, in any case, that it knows that interest in the midfielder from Volendam can be considered genuine.

goal stuff aside, the best part was the first 15 minutes, they looked brave on the ball. But if they keep giving away cheap fouls near the box, any good team will punish them. 🤬

Idk about the rotation. Bringing on fresh legs is nice, but PSV need control in those last 20 minutes, not just energy. If the game plan is to win second balls, then we should commit more bodies. 100%

"PSV Inside" keeps hyping the same defensive vibe... i just saw too many moments where the line got stretched. Simons was great with the ball, but without a midfield shield it feels risky. smh

"PSV can control the game with their buildup" is true, but i need to see more direct runs behind instead of slowing it down. Sometimes it feels like we are inviting pressure for no reason, then it turns messy.

tbh i think the key was how they dragged the fullback wide and then attacked the space behind him. Gut feeling is that Luuk de Jong still provides that chaos, but we need quicker third-man runs. Otherwise it gets mid. 👀

If PSV really played that high press again, i love it. But we cant be leaving the half-spaces open, Timber or Tillman has to cover smarter. Otherwise this turns into a counter-attacking training session. 🔥⚽

If PSV keep playing through the left half-space like this, it will punish teams, but only if the full-back overlaps get cleaner. Right now the timing is a bit off at times and it gets recycled.

The way PSV pressed in midfield was honestly the key. When they win it higher, the whole game opens up for Luuk de Jong and co. 🔥
