Does PSV still take action after a million-euro bid from Germany? “Still a serious candidate”

1 min read

Bundesliga club Hoffenheim is taking a firm step forward. The German club is spending millions of euros on the transfer market and has explicitly set its sights on the Eredivisie.

Meanwhile, Kodai Sano of NEC has also come onto Hoffenheim’s radar, but that transfer is certainly not settled yet. According to Sky Sports’ German outlet, the Bundesliga club has not yet reached a definitive agreement for the Japanese player. PSV still seems to be looking to move in the background.

The Nijmegen residents were under the impression that the deal was almost done, but the German club is reportedly still weighing up two midfielders. Hoffenheim has meanwhile tabled an increased bid of around eighteen million euros, an amount that can rise to twenty million euros via bonuses. With this transfer fee, it would be recorded in the books as the most expensive outgoing transfer in NEC’s history. Still, the matter is not quite fully settled yet.

Whether PSV will still come into action for Sano remains to be seen. The transfer fee is, after all, a hurdle that is hardly to be taken for PSV. The same applies to the interest in Anderlecht prospect De Cat. For PSV, the arrival of De Cat 'doesn't seem realistic', reports Eindhovens Dagblad.

'PSV is considered a passed-over station unless something strange happens. It therefore looks like a cat in the bag for transfer enthusiasts, unless a special development should arise,' the Eindhoven newspaper analyzed this week about the Anderlecht player. For Sano, however, it applies that PSV is definitely keeping an eye on developments surrounding the Japanese player in the background. 'PSV is still a serious candidate,' is what is said about Sano.

tbh i like the idea of pressing higher, but if the back line steps up again like last game, we get punished on the counter... especially when the fullbacks dont tuck in.

If PSV really want more control, Til and Sangare must be clean with those first passes. Otherwise we keep inviting pressure in the middle, and teams like Ajax wont miss those turnovers.
