Million Transfer Nears Completion | Transfer Sano could quickly turn out well for PSV within a year

1 min read

NEC sees the silver fleet coming in over the coming days. The multi-million transfer of the popular Japanese player Kodai Sano is nearing completion and that means cash in Nijmegen.

People who claim that the Eredivisie is just a playground can safely rethink this line of thought, because there is massive shopping from abroad in the Netherlands. Come on, they are not immediately the biggest clubs from the Bundesliga, the Premier League, or Ligue 1, but European clubs do know how to find their way to the Eredivisie. That is a positive sign, given the value and appeal of the Eredivisie.

However, for PSV there is a downside attached to that. Clubs such as AS Roma, AC Milan, Bologna and, recently, therefore Hoffenheim, find their way to Enschede, Alkmaar and Nijmegen, but in doing so they do drive up prices, making it barely affordable for PSV. At least, the management at the Philips Stadium can certainly consider whether 18 million euros and 2 million euros in bonuses is still something that can be justified, now that the record incoming transfer for Ruben van Bommel to PSV is still reaching 16 million euros.

Still, the club has no intention of paying higher amounts than what it laid on the table last season for Ruben van Bommel, and there’s something to be said for that. Besides, won’t players like Salah-Edinne, Mats Rots and Kodai Sano not be back on the market again for a year or perhaps even half a year after a spell of limited playing time or inactivity? Yes, probably. And so the transfer of Sano from NEC to Hoffenheim could very well turn out well for PSV, if a club needs to be found in 6 to 12 months for a loan arrangement.

Meanwhile, the Nijmegen deal is approaching its completion. NEC has made a counteroffer to TSG Hoffenheim for Sano. The Nijmegen side want to see more money and are demanding seventeen million euros plus bonuses, as De Telegraaf reports.

Earlier, news emerged that the Bundesliga club had made an offer of around eighteen million euros. According to De Telegraaf, the exact offer is fixed at fifteen million euros, plus two million euros in bonuses. The Nijmegen side thinks that's too little, so they have made a counteroffer of seventeen million euros plus the same two million euros in bonuses. It's interesting how PSV looks at this very closely, but the club normally lets interest in Sano go.

Tbh i think the game plan will depend on how the winger tracks back. If they dont, all the nice passing becomes pointless when counters come through the half-spaces. 👀

🔥 That front line looked dangerous in the clips. If they keep winning the second ball, we can turn games in like 10 minutes.

"PSV Inside" being honest about patterns actually matters. Im just worried the fullbacks will leave too much space behind when we chase the ball.

If PSV really go with a quicker buildup, then that midfield spacing better be sharp. Otherwise itll get swallowed by the press, and we will look slow on the turn.

Watching the way they talk about the press, imo PSV should trigger it earlier, not wait until the ball is already turned. That extra second costs us almost every counter.

🔥 If the coach wants dominance, you play through the middle more. Right now it feels like we keep forcing it out wide and hoping for magic.

Bro, that PSV Inside line about the full-backs stepping high is brave... but if the winger doesnt track back, it turns into chaos. Just make sure the cover is there, please 🙄

If PSV are still trying to build up like in that clip, youre gonna get punished by a fast press every time. Need quicker support in midfield or itll be a long night.
