Wim Kieft names former PSV player as a sure pick in Orange's World Cup squad: 'You don't have much of it'
1 min readNational team coach Ronald Koeman will, on Wednesday afternoon after the last training session of the Netherlands national team, put an end to all uncertainty and make his squad for the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States known. Last Monday, Guus Til was the only PSV player welcomed by the national coach in the hope of convincing him that he should go to the World Cup.
In addition, former PSV player Noa Lang was also present at this training, and Wim Kieft believes Lang will be a sure thing in Ronald Koeman's squad selection. Kieft says this in the podcast KieftJansenEgmondGijp.
According to the former striker, it also has to do with the playing style of the winger. ''You won’t lose much weight for long, because you don’t have that much of it. And then there will be a few doubtful cases'', Kieft thinks.
In addition, the former PSV player also points to Feyenoord player Luciano Valente. ''He has been through a pretty tougher spell. At some point he’s going to start to feel: 'I have to start carrying the team.' Someone had to do that at Feyenoord too, so he’s kind of started taking matters upon himself. If he can dose it in the future'', said the former international.

Kieft also thinks that Koeman will ultimately not take both Til, Valente and Kees Smit (AZ) with him in his squad. ''You already have five good midfielders'', Kieft believes.
Noa Lang's behavior is also mentioned when writer Michel van Egmond brings up the name of Marten de Roon as a possible candidate. ''He's also a bit boring. You can easily take him. With Lang or Veerman, you always have to think for a moment: 'How long can we put up with this, this behavior?''', concludes the born Amsterdammer.

I like the idea of rotating, but i am worried the balance will get worse if the defensive midfield sitter is not locked in. Against bigger sides, one slip in the build-up and you get punished, so i want that plan clearly drilled.
Goal!! Where do i sign for more goals from the half-space. This is peak PSV when the overlap and cutbacks click 🚀⚽
The article hinting that the pressing triggers are getting better is true, but the press trap only works if the line stays compact. If we step up while the winger is lazy tracking, it turns into chaos real quick 💀
🔥🔥🔥 Goal!! Nah seriously, the way they mention pressing triggers is exactly what PSV need. When the front two coordinate the press, the whole team looks 10x more aggressive and solid.
🔥 Defending from the front is where PSV will win games. Lets go, if the press starts on the 6th and not at the wing, we look way more dangerous 💯⚽
"PSV Inside" keeps showing why the intensity is so high lately. Gakpo not even needing 3 touches is looking scary, but dont overcook it, we still need structure in transitions 👀🔥
"PSV Inside" talking about control, but tbh our build-up looked shaky last time. Tillman needs to touch the ball quicker, and if Tillman and Simons dont swap lanes we get stuck on the same side.
"we need more intensity" ok but intensity without control is chaos. Put Til or Veerman on the ball earlier and let the tempo drop when they clear it. 💯
I think the big issue was the spacing between the fullbacks and the winger. If we keep turning the same way, opponents will bait the pass and punish the transition, and thats exactly what happened.
"more direct" sounds good on paper, but bruh, we saw what happens when the first pass is slightly late. Then every attack ends with us chasing the game again. Tbh id like to see the build-up through the 6 more often, get the tempo under control 👀
I actually like the point about our left side creating overloads, but i think it only works if the fullback stays disciplined. If he pushes too high, it invites that transition space immediately. Still, Til is looking sharp in those link-up moments.
🔥🔥🔥Eens, dit is PSV energy. Now just dont let them play through the center at all.
If PSV go with that midfield setup again, we are gonna suffocate teams but lose control on the counter. Tbh i want more defensive cover behind those full backs, especially when the opponent switches play fast.
If PSV actually goes with that midfield shape again, i fear we will be too easy to press. Xavi Simons has to drop deeper and connect, otherwise it turns into long balls and vibes. Still, if Sangare wins those duels early, we can run the game.
tbh i like the plan but the build-up still looks shaky under pressure... get that midfield shield right and we win more duels. 👀
If PSV start pressing like this, Luuk de Jong needs to be smart with his link-up, not just waiting. Would love to see the wide guys tuck inside earlier, feels like we lose the second ball too often.
If PSV want control in midfield, they cant keep playing so open after winning the ball. The article saying they are more 'direct' is nice, but direct often turns into cheap counters for the other team. We need better shape behind the ball, not just more intensity 🔥
