1 min readOn 12 June 2023, PSV officially announced the news that Peter Bosz had been appointed as the new head coach. After club icon Ruud van Nistelrooy stepped down, the club management had to look for a new coach for the 2023/2024 season, and as a result, Bosz became the new coach.
The final stage of the 2022/2023 season was messy at PSV. On 24 May 2023, a few days before the last league match away at AZ, Van Nistelrooy stepped down due to a sense of lack of confidence from the club management. As a result, assistant coach Fred Rutten was at that moment the one ultimately responsible for the away match in Alkmaar, where a spot in the Champions League preliminary round was at stake for PSV.
Ultimately PSV won 1-2 away to AZ and thus secured its place in the preliminary round of the billions ball. In addition, PSV also got help from Enschede where FC Twente won 3-1 against Ajax.
After the season, PSV therefore had to look for a new coach and ultimately it was decided to appoint Peter Bosz. Supporters of rival clubs initially didn’t mind seeing Bosz become coach of PSV, since the manager was known for never winning a trophy.
By now Bosz has been on the job for three seasons at PSV and the born resident of Apeldoorn has three national titles to his name. In addition, PSV also won the Johan Cruyff Shield twice with Bosz and managed to qualify twice for the round of 16 of the Champions League.
In addition, Bosz decided to extend his contract, which was due to expire in the middle of this year, by at least two years, and as a result the coach will be with PSV for at least another two years. So the Bosz era at PSV began exactly three years ago and is far from over.

Wie kijkt mee naar de Bosz-era? 3 titels, 0 paniek... beetje cap als iemand nog zegt dat hij geen prijzen wint. 💯⚽
Even rekenen: 2x Johan Cruijff Schaal en 2x de 8e finales gehaald. Dat is toch geen toeval. 👏 En met die Twente-uitslag tegen Ajax zat PSV echt in een perfecte flow.
"Alweer drie jaar geleden" voelt zo lang... maar dat contract verlengen met minimaal twee jaar zegt genoeg. Bosz blijft, dus dan ook maar hopen dat we niet opnieuw een dip krijgen in de tweede seizoenshelft 🤬
De verlenging van Bosz snap ik ook. Met die kwalificaties voor de achtste finales en die twee Johan Cruijff Schaal zit er altijd iets van een plan achter. Alleen hoop ik wel dat we in de Champions League dit keer ook wat langer de knock-outs halen. 👀
Oneens met het idee dat het "nooit prijs wint" zo logisch was. Bosz kwam met een plan, maar je zag ook dat de ploeg soms rommelig startte en pas later echt klikte. Toch is het eindresultaat indrukwekkend.
Ik denk nog steeds aan die rommel na het vertrek van Ruud. Fred Rutten die eindverantwoordelijk was en dan toch winnen bij AZ voor CL, dat was echt clutch. Daarna begon Bosz pas echt goed te landen, en nu mag ie dus gewoon door. 🚀
Die AZ-wedstrijd blijft gek: Van Nistelrooy stapt op, Rutten moet het doen, en PSV wint 1-2 op een ticket voor de CL. Als Bosz daar meteen vertrouwen kreeg, snap ik het wel.
Tbh het is best grappig dat mensen toen zeiden dat Bosz nooit prijzen wint. Drie landstitels later is dat gewoon aantoonbaar gelogen. 💯
Bosz werd eerst echt gelabeld als "die nooit prijzen pakt", maar ondertussen staan er gewoon 3 landstitels. Dat begin ik pas te waarderen na seizoen 2 eerlijk gezegd 😅🔥
