Three more PSV players certain to take part in the 2026 World Cup

After Esmir Bajraktarevic, teammates Ivan Perisic and Paul Wanner are also certain to take part in the World Cup. The 37-year-old Perisic has been included in Croatia's squad for the World Cup next summer, while Paul Wanner will be allowed to prepare with Austria for their first World Cup appearance since 1998, and Armando Obispo with Curaçao also makes his debut at a global finals.

For Perisic, it is his fourth World Cup with Croatia after earlier appearances in 2014, 2018 and 2022. In 2018, Perisic played a major role in Croatia's path to the final.

In the semi-final against England, the current PSV player provided the equaliser (1-1), after which the Croats, following extra time, managed to win 2-1 and thus reach the World Cup final for the first time since independence. In that same final, Perisic also scored the 1-1, but in the end France was too strong after 90 minutes with 4-2, meaning Croatia had to settle for second place.

Four years later, Perisic & co. reached the last four again, but in the semi-final the later world champions, Argentina, were too strong with a 3-0 scoreline, after which the battle for third place was still won against Morocco. At the upcoming World Cup, the Croats will come up in Group L against England, Ghana and Panama.

Paul Wanner made the decision at the beginning of this year to play his international matches for Austria despite the fact that the talented midfielder has come through all of Germany's youth teams. This is paying off in the fact that Wanner may now start preparing for his World Cup debut.

In addition to Wanner, former PSV player Phillipp Mwene is also on the team as Austria travel to Canada, Mexico, and the United States next summer. The Austrians play in Group J against reigning world champions Argentina, Algeria, and Jordan.

After weeks of discussions about the Curaçao national team manager position, Dick Advocaat has also announced his squad with which the island is traveling to the World Cup. PSV defender Armando Obispo has been selected for The Blue Wave, along with former PSV players Shurandy Sambo, Joshua Brenet, Riechedly Bazoer, Jeremy Antonisse and Jürgen Locadia.

At the World Cup, Dick Advocaat's men play in Group E. Their opponents are Germany, Ivory Coast, and Ecuador.

Perisic in 2018 die gelijkmaker tegen Engeland, dat was echt pure instinct. Benieuwd of Kroatië weer zo op hem leunt in Poule L, want tegen Engeland en Ghana wordt het meteen pittig. 👀

Perisic weer in Kroatië, man dat is echt top ervaring.
