Bosz candid about the future: “I don’t expect them to come for me”
1 min readPeter Bosz missed out on the Rinus Michels Award for best coach of the 2025/2026 season on Wednesday evening. After two previous elections, Bosz was this time beaten by NEC coach Dick Schreuder.
Schreuder impressed a lot last season with the Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie and the third place also achieved the highest final ranking ever in the Eredivisie. As a result, the Nijmegen side will play in the 2026/2027 Champions League preliminary round.
After the awards ceremony, Peter Bosz spoke with television channel ESPN. The sports broadcaster couldn't help but ask again what the coach of PSV thinks about the position of national team coach.
This despite the fact that the coach still has a contract at PSV until 2028. ''I've been at some really great clubs abroad, but never at the absolute top. And when I say absolute top, I might be talking about six or seven clubs that I place under the absolute top in Europe,'' Bosz tells ESPN candidly.
Bosz suspects that there will be no absolute top club coming for him. ''I don't expect that one will come for me. But if a club like that were to knock, I can imagine that I would think very carefully about it'', the coach says.
After that, they still ask about the position of national team coach. ''After those two years I can think it over properly'', the coach said.

Die quote over "absolute top" is echt Bosz. Idk, maar als PSV hem tot 2028 heeft, dan voelt dat bondscoachschap als iets wat pas later echt vorm krijgt. Voor nu wil je toch gewoon dat hij piekt in Europa, niet in speculatie.
Bosz zegt eigenlijk gewoon dat die Rinus Michels bijna altijd net misgrijpt. En dan ook nog dat hij niet verwacht dat een absolute topclub voor hem komt, tbh dat klinkt als realisme en een beetje trots tegelijk. Als Schreuder de bal aan het rollen brengt met NEC dan snap ik wel dat ESPN blijft porren.
ngl i love bosz confidence, but "Ik verwacht niet dat die voor mij zullen komen" is a bit risky. If he doubts a top club coming, i want PSV to lock in plan A and keep building, no drifting.
