Ronald Koeman clear about the PSV player: 'I’ll leave it at that'
1 min readIn recent months, much has been discussed in the Netherlands about the fact that Joey Veerman, despite a strong season at PSV, was not included in the squad of the Netherlands national team for the friendly matches against Norway and Ecuador. At the press conference ahead of these matches, head coach Ronald Koeman made it clear that Veerman does not have to count on a place in the World Cup squad.
Despite the fact that Xavi Simons and Jerdy Schouten have to miss the World Cup as it is because of serious injuries, the national coach has still not changed his mind. Koeman made this clear last Sunday on NOS Studio Voetbal.
''You’ve already said a lot about it, but just quickly: is the book closed for Veerman, or is there still a chance for him to go along to the World Cup?'', presenter Sjoerd van Ramshorst asked the Netherlands coach. After that, Koeman gave a brief but clear answer.
''You say that I have already said a lot about it and I’ll leave it at that'', said the head coach. After the Euro 2024, in which Oranje fell short in the semi-final following a 1-2 defeat against England, Koeman no longer called on PSV’s midfielder.

Even Veerman himself was asked about his situation with regard to the Netherlands national team, but the midfielder did not want to waste too many words on it himself. Despite his important role at PSV and possibly an upcoming transfer, Veerman will most likely not go to the World Cup with Oranje next month.
