René van der Gijp calls for two former PSV players in the Oranje front line: “We don’t have much else.”

Next Wednesday, Oranje will still play a friendly match in Rotterdam against Algeria, and after that the squad of national coach Ronald Koeman will travel to North America to prepare for the tournament.
Next week Monday, the Netherlands will play in New York City a friendly against World Cup debutants Uzbekistan, and on Sunday 14 June, Koeman's men will play their first group match at the World Cup against Japan. For former PSV player René van der Gijp, it is clear which attack the national coach should field during the World Cup.
Van der Gijp pleads for former PSV player Donyell Malen in attack. ''Malen, one hundred percent. You don't have to think about it. He had such a strong six months and has built up so much confidence. You just have to give him a chance'', Gijp insists to presenter Wilfred Genee in the segment De Krantjes of Today Inside.
After that, Dordrecht’s analyst continues with the ideal left and right forwards. For Van der Gijp, the former fan favorite of PSV is the ideal left winger, and Crysencio Summerville the right winger.
The choice for Summerville on the right causes some surprise for Genee, but despite that, Van der Gijp sticks with his front line. ''We don’t have that many other options. You have to put everyone in the position they can handle. On the pitch, it rotates automatically'', said Gijp.
The former international therefore does not have a starting spot available for Noa Lang, also a former PSV player. ''Lang had a mediocre season in Turkey, so I won't put him in the starting lineup. People should be in positions where they feel at home,'' the analyst concludes.

"We hebben niet zoveel anders" oké bruh, maar PSV fans weten dat je met de juiste dynamiek wel verschil maakt. Als Lang fit en in vorm is, waarom niet gewoon laten knokken vanaf minuut 1? Matig seizoen of niet, het is Oranje en het is WK.
"We hebben niet zoveel anders" oké, maar dan moet je wel eerlijk zeggen dat het ook gewoon een beetje risico is. Lang eruit omdat hij matig speelde in Turkije, fair, maar dan moet Summerville linksom of rechtsom ook rendement leveren. Anders krijg je zo'n Oranje-voorhoede die veel loopt maar weinig afmaakt.
Ik vind die keuze voor Summerville op rechts wel cap. Je kan zeggen dat hij kan wisselen, maar rendement is net zo belangrijk als positie. Als Lang niet start omdat hij in Turkije minder draaide, dan moet PSV kwaliteit voorin wel meteen afmaken.
Malen erin, dat snap ik wel. Als hij in vorm is, is het gewoon goals, 100%. Maar Summerville op rechts is wel echt een gok, tbh ik zie liever Lang daar als het gaat om directe 1-op-1.
René picking Malen 100% and leaving out Noa Lang sounds like classic Van der Gijp confidence. But tbh, if Lang is "not in the basis" just because of a Turkish dip, how long until we judge him on the NT run instead?
Malen moet gewoon centraal ja, als je vertrouwen hebt en goals pakt dan hoort hij. Maar ik snap die keuze voor Summerville niet helemaal, die wil ik eerst zien in een echte WK-rol.
Guus Til erbij en dan Malen in de spits, tbh dat klinkt als een logisch PSV-achtig pakket. Maar echt, Noa Lang in de basis overslaan voelt wel hard, ook al had hij een matig seizoen. Toch snap ik dat Koeman mensen thuis wil laten voelen.
