Joey Veerman, once again about Ronald Koeman

It is then still going to be one more time, perhaps a last time, about Ronald Koeman and Joey Veerman. The midfielder from Volendam would like, in turn, to say something one more time about a 'major misunderstanding' in relation to Ronald Koeman.

Joey Veerman has also taken another look back in recent days at the page-sized advertisement for G-star on which he was featured. The ad in De Telegraaf produced an enormous number of responses a few months ago. Veerman can now laugh about it.

What was happening again? Just before the first match of the Netherlands national team at the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico against Japan, there was a full-page advertisement for G-Star in the newspaper with Joey Veerman in the starring role. A great marketing campaign. “Denim with true character” was printed on the advertisement; this could be seen as a jab at Ronald Koeman, who says that Veerman’s character was different. Still, something else was going on. 

The midfielder of PSV, as is known, was not called up for the World Cup, but has meanwhile regained hope for a new campaign with the Netherlands national team now that Ronald Koeman has left. "In my opinion, that’s just the slogan of G-Star. That was quite a misunderstanding, I think", Veerman tells De Telegraaf a little more than a month later. "But I did get some nice reactions to it."

The advertisement would originally be placed later in De Telegraaf. "That was very smart of them to do, but they had told me that it would happen three days later", says Veerman. "People could take it as a jab. But I thought it was a good joke and, besides, it doesn't matter at all to me what the rest of them think", Joey Veerman adds.
