PSV watcher calls for heavy suspension: 'It is antisocial behavior'

After the end of the World Cup final Spain - Argentina (1-0), the Argentinians showed their ugliest side. In particular, midfielder Leandro Paredes stood out, and that was not lost on PSV watcher Jeroen Kapteijns of De Telegraaf.

Together with fellow journalist Valentijn Driessen, Kapteijns was surprised by Paredes' behavior. Both journalists let this be known in the podcast Kick-off of De Telegraaf.

''He should have been shown red three times. He had also left earlier already with a second yellow card. Until a bout of free wrestling broke out'', Driessen says firmly in the podcast.

Then PSV watcher Kapteijns steps in and the journalist also points to the quarterfinal Netherlands - Argentina at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. ''It is something of a satisfaction for the Netherlands. Four years ago in Qatar, where he first shoved Aké down and then rammed the ball into the dugout. Then he got away with a yellow card,'' the journalist said.

The captain also therefore argues for a heavy suspension for the midfielder. ''I think FIFA really has to hand out a heavy suspension here. Not two matches, but just five or six. Because this is antisocial behavior. This was the most important match of the past four years and then he puts football on display like that. I think a very heavy suspension should follow for that'', the journalist concludes.
