PSV stakeholders have a chance for Eredivisie Player of the Year title

1 min read

PSV became champions of the Netherlands for the third time in a row this season, and the team led by Peter Bosz had a lot to thank for this to an outstanding Ismael Saibari and Joey Veerman. Both key players for PSV have therefore also been nominated for the Eredivisie Player of the Year award.

Despite a mediocre start, Saibari was especially important in top-tier matches for PSV. For instance, he was responsible for a hat-trick in De Kuip against Feyenoord (2-3) and PSV was able to count on him after going behind 0-2, when they won 4-3 against FC Utrecht on 4 April of this year.

In addition, Veerman this season provided no fewer than fourteen assists for the formation of Bosz and both players therefore also seem to be leaving PSV next summer. The other nominees for this award are Ajax player Mika Godts, NEC’s Tjarron Chery and sc Heerenveen player Jacob Trenskow.

Wammes. On the counter, PSV actually look dangerous when Tillman starts running at the gap. If the coach trusts him a bit more, this can be a proper title-level performance. 🚀

"We want to dominate" ok but then the defending after turnovers needs work. If they keep giving cheap transitions, this plan gets cooked, no cap. 💀

The piece says the buildup looks smooth, but I still dont trust the fullback positions in transition. If you leave half-spaces open, any counter turns into a chaos moment for the defense. 👀

I mean, if the plan is to play through the middle, then Sangare has to win die duels en niet alleen neerleggen. Tbh ik zie nog te vaak balverlies net na de omschakeling. 💀

Bro if we are relying on the same set of passing lanes again, teams will figure it out. Im not saying its washed, but it needs a Plan B when the first outlet is covered. 👀

In my opinion the key is the rotations off the ball. When the front line drops properly, the tempo goes up and the opponent cant settle. This could be a real banger if they start fast. 🔥⚽

The rotation talk is interesting, but i worry it breaks the rhythm. If we rotate too much, the pressing intensity drops and our chances become less clear in front of goal.

"PSV Inside" saying the pressing triggers were improved... but i still dont see enough aggression in the last 10 meters. Needs more runs from the 8/10 zone, otherwise its too predictable.

"PSV Inside" straight up called it... if the fullbacks push, the winger has to stay tight and track. Otherwise that space behind them is free real estate 😅🔥

"PSV are at their best when they press high" oké maar dan moet Veerman ook echt vooruit blijven staan. Anders trekt iedereen terug en wordt die pressing zomaar een loop-actie. 🤬

De Jong is not a DM and tbh PSV need him higher or he becomes too passive in build-up. I want more direct passes to the wings, not another slow recycle.

Eens. But i swear, if they keep wasting those wide chances, Heerenveen or Ajax will punish them instantly. 2-0 would have been fairer, ngl. 🔥

Eens. Im already worried about how the fullbacks will handle quick wingers. PSV are at their best when they attack the space early, not when they recycle it.

That buildup looked clean early, but when the tempo drops, PSV lose the second-ball fight. Xavi Simons is the spark, but we still need someone to be brave in the half-spaces. 👀

No way that quote about "control" is true if the fullbacks keep stepping up and getting exposed behind them... 🤡 We need better cover, tbh.

If PSV really want to press like that in the first 20 minutes, Luuk de Jong has to do more than just hold it up. The midfield is going to need energy next to Schouten, otherwise you get bypassed so easily.

Volgens mij is dit weer zo'n PSV-setup waarbij de 10 te weinig ruimte krijgt. Met Tillman die steeds naar binnen zakt, moet de rechterkant wel sneller aangevallen worden anders wordt het voorspelbaar. 🔥

If PSV starts with that same high press again, i just hope the midfield can actually win the second balls. Because if they dont, it will turn into a quick counter-fest for the opposition...

That midfield balance is not convincing me tbh. If they invite pressure again, their build-up will get strangled fast.
