PSV after the win in Deventer: “I just did my thing”
1 min readDespite the fact that nothing more was at stake for PSV on Sunday afternoon in Deventer, Peter Bosz’s team won 1-4 at De Adelaarshorst. For Bosz’s team, it was already the 26th league win of the season.
After the match, Ryan Flamingo was highlighted by Bosz. ''He played like a boss and won his duels against his opponent, who is a head taller'', said the coach about the defender after the match at the press conference, as quoted by VoetbalPrimeur.
Last season, the defender had a strong debut season, but at the start of this season Flamingo lost his starting spot when captain Jerdy Schouten was moved back a line. Last month, Schouten suffered a severe injury in the home match against FC Utrecht (4-3), causing the captain to be sidelined for about nine to twelve months.
Because of this as well, Flamingo seized his chance again. ''It’s good to be able to play multiple matches in a row again. It helps you get back the right feeling and be in sync with your teammates. For me, everything goes better when I play a lot,'' said the central defender after the match to Eindhovens Dagblad.
After that, Flamingo goes deeper into the win in Deventer. ''I’ve just done my thing and gone hard into the duels. It was important to start as well as possible and the whole team did that well. Did I play like a boss? Well, I’ve just done my thing. There was a change in the team and then you have to accept it and keep working hard. In the end, a chance will come again and I’m just taking it now. And next week we want to play another good match,'' said the defender.

Flamingo die het heeft over ingespeeld raken, klinkt zo logisch maar je ziet het ook echt. Een paar wedstrijden achter elkaar pakken en dan weer vertrouwen, daar wordt de hele defensie beter van. Volgende week weer doorpakken!
Leuk dat Schouten geblesseerd is en dat Flamingo profiteert, maar ik hoop wel dat PSV hier niet op automatische piloot blijft spelen. Vorige keer dat we terugvielen in discipline zagen we problemen, dus ben benieuwd hoe Bosz dit doortrekt.
Bosz heeft Flamingo wel duidelijk in de spotlight gezet, en ik snap dat ook. Als je zegt "ik heb gewoon m'n ding gedaan" en je duels winnen van iemand die groter is, dan sta je er gewoon.
Deventer was eigenlijk zo'n wedstrijd waarin PSV even moest blijven scherp. 1-4 is gewoon lekker, en Flamingo die weer twee keer het niveau haalt na die lastige periode, dat stemt me positief.
