Former PSV player, the club still hasn’t forgotten him:
1 min readLast year, midfielder Richy Ledezma decided to leave PSV as a free transfer and go in search of his fortune in Mexico. Ledezma has now completed his first season in the Mexican league and is still keeping a close eye on his former employer.
Last season, the Mexican international under Peter Bosz often played right-back because of the departure of Jordan Teze and the long-term injury of Sergino Dest. In addition, Rick Karsdorp was also frequently injured, which is why Ledezma made many appearances last season.
The midfielder may have left PSV almost a year ago already, but still, the Mexican is not forgotten by the club. ''I watch every match and I still keep in touch with a lot of guys. For example with Joey Veerman, Jerdy Schouten and Mauro Júnior. I was only eighteen years old when I went to the Netherlands. At PSV, I grew and matured. That’s why I will never forget the club. Look, here you can see what it means to me'', says Ledezma in the book Viva Futbol by Jesper Langbroek.
Then the former PSV player points to his right calf where he has a large tattoo with a small boy in a PSV kit with the back number 37. ''This is me, together with God who leads me to my dreams. The cacti represent Phoenix, where I was born. The clouds at the top are still empty. At the end of my career there is room for all the dreams I have made come true. The trophies won with PSV will be placed there as well,'' the midfielder says about it.

During his time at PSV, Ledezma also had a lot of injury trouble. ''I had a difficult start at the club, because I broke my metatarsal bone soon after. After that, I had many injuries to my ankle and then my knee. I tore my anterior cruciate ligament against Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League. It was my first start at PSV and the match was only quarter of an hour underway. I was on my way to becoming a regular starter, but suddenly I was out for a year. I had never experienced anything like that before. It was emotionally very difficult, but thanks to God I got through it. PSV believed in me and gave me more opportunities'', concludes the Mexican international.

Question though, does he still follow the current right-back setup like it was with him last season? He says he never forgets PSV, but i wonder how he rates the way Bosz uses that side now 👀
"Ik kijk elke wedstrijd" bruh, love it.
Not gonna lie, the Omonia Nicosia ACL story makes me sad. He says PSV believed in him and gave chances, but imagine if he stayed fit from the start, he could have been a real long-term starter. 💀
"Ik kijk elke wedstrijd" is the kind of loyalty you want. If Joey and Jerdy are still in contact too, it says enough about the atmosphere in Eindhoven, even after injuries and setbacks.
The Omonia Nicosia ACL moment was so unlucky, can still see it in my head... 😅 It is weirdly inspiring though, because he says PSV believed in him and gave more chances. Props, and i hope his "dreams" part actually includes winning something big again, not just personal stuff.
Right after the Teze-Dest situation last season he got thrown in and played a ton. But the Bosz era injuries ruined his rhythm so many times... still, you can understand why PSV never left him.
Joey Veerman and Jerdy Schouten still being mentioned says enough about the squad culture back then. But fr, would be interesting to know if he regrets leaving on a free, or if Mexico was really the right move.
"Ik kijk elke wedstrijd" respect. That tattoo with PSV 37 is actually peak commitment, and the Phoenix stuff too. If they ever do a return tribute, i want it done properly 👏
Idk tbh those injury stories hit different, first the metatarsal then ankle, knee, and then cruciate in like 15 minutes... 💀 Still, it says a lot that he feels "never forgetting" PSV and growth at 18.
Love that he still watches every match and stays in contact with Joey and Jerdy. Shows why Bosz era worked, but also how PSV really kept believing in him when he was wrecked by injuries.
Bro... that leg tattoo story is actually wild. A PSV kid with the 37, and the clouds still empty for the future dreams, thats some peak motivation 🔥
Love to see it, Richy still watches every match and keeps contact with Veerman, Schouten, and Mauro. Tbh that quote hits, you can tell he really grew up at PSV, not just played there.
