Bosz put the strongman on the bench in Deventer: ‘He may leave’
1 min readPSV began Sunday afternoon with Noah Fernandez in midfield, in favor of Joey Veerman. The young Belgian formed the midfield together with Guus Til and Paul Wanner.
Peter Bosz said ahead of the match at De Adelaarshorst that Fernandez got the nod over Veerman because Bosz is already looking ahead to next season and therefore wanted to see the young Belgian in action. ''I think Joey is having a great season with us and I want to see some young boys in midfield now. That's why there is room for Paul Wanner, who does play more often, but also for Noah,'' the coach said beforehand with ESPN.
Nevertheless, Veerman could accept Bosz’s decision not to put the midfielder in the starting lineup. ''Yes. I explained it to him and gave the reason. He understands it,'' Bosz said about it.
According to the training coach, Fernandez is good enough for a starting spot in PSV's first team. ''I want to see him now as well. He did well against Sparta, when he was allowed to play. And in training I naturally see him every day; he’s doing well. That’s why I’m letting him play now,'' said Bosz.

The coach believes that the young Belgian really has to be ready next season in order to lay claim to a spot in PSV’s first team. ''We’ve got a lot more. A few are on the bench. And a few are still in Eindhoven, and they’re also very close. If they aren’t good enough, I won’t take them with me. In other matches I’ve also had fewer men on the bench; I can do that too. But these guys are good enough to play in PSV 1,'' Bosz concludes.

That quote about Veerman explaining and
Bosz says Veerman understands it, but I still worry when you take out a guy who controls games. Fernandez better bring intensity from minute one.
Bosz saying
Part of me misses Veerman in the starting XI, he usually gives PSV control in those games. But if Fernandez was solid vs Sparta and is doing well in training, you have to respect the call. Hopefully this doesn't kill the rhythm too much in Deventer.
I like that Bosz actually explains it. Fernandez instead of Veerman makes sense if he wants a look at midfield for next season. The quote about Joey "snapping it" feels very mature from both sides.
I actually like Bosz here. Putting Fernandez in midfield over Veerman feels like a real plan for the next season, not just rotation.
Honestly I get why Veerman starts on the bench. Seeing Fernandez with Til and Wanner could be a bit more dynamic. If Noah can handle Deventer, this is a smart long-term move.
Bosz saying
Joey Veerman on the bench always feels like a gamble, even if Bosz explained it. Noah Fernandez in the middle with Til and Wanner could be exciting, but I need to see it click quickly.
I get the message, but dropping Veerman feels a bit harsh. If Noah is only getting starts because Bosz is scouting next season, I hope it is not just a one-off.
Fair play to Bosz for giving Noah Fernandez a proper look. If he did well against Sparta and looks sharp on training, starting him in Deventer makes sense. I just hope we dont lose too much control in the midfield.
Love that Bosz is willing to give Fernandez real minutes. Veerman had a great season, but in Deventer you can see the logic, no big risk but still a real test.
