Active for both PSV and FC Twente
1 min readNext Sunday afternoon, the match PSV - FC Twente is on the schedule in the final Eredivisie matchday of the 2025/2026 season. Since the turn of the century, there have been a number of footballers who have worn the shirts of both clubs.
PSV Inside lists a number of names who came up for PSV and FC Twente this century.
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink made his debut for FC Twente in 1996 and, the tall forward from Oldenzaal, played until 2001 in the first team of the Tukkers. In the summer of 2001, Lange Jan moved to PSV and, for about three years, often formed a striking partnership with Mateja Kezman.
In five years PSV won Vennegoor of Hesselink a total of three league titles and also the KNVB Cup in 2005. In that same year, the striker was part of the team that, under Guus Hiddink, managed to reach the Champions League semi-finals.
After the 2006 World Cup, at the start of the 2006/2007 season, Lange Jan moved to Celtic and after three seasons in Glasgow, the striker played another season with Hull City in England. In the summer of 2010, Vennegoor left for Austrian club Rapid Wien, only to return to PSV in November 2011 after his contract in Austria was terminated in the summer of 2011.
At the end of the 2011/2012 season, Vennegoor announced that he was stopping his football career. Since 2016, he has been a youth scout in his hometown area for PSV.

Luuk de Jong
Luuk de Jong made his debut in professional football in 2008 for De Graafschap and in 2009 the long striker was taken over by FC Twente. In Enschede, De Jong won the national title in 2010 and the KNVB Cup in 2011 before moving to the German club Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2012.
In Germany, FC Porto’s current attacker couldn’t make much of an impact and Die Fohlen decided to loan De Jong to Newcastle United in England. Even in the Premier League, the striker couldn’t leave his mark, and in the summer of 2014 PSV took him over from Borussia Mönchengladbach for €5.5 million.
At PSV, De Jong became a major asset. Between 2014 and 2019, the striker won the league title with PSV three times and had the Johan Cruyff Shield claimed twice.
Moreover, De Jong was appointed captain in the summer of 2015 after the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum, and in the summer of 2019 he made a transfer to Sevilla CF. With the Spaniards, De Jong won the Europa League in the corona year 2020, and he was the key man by scoring the winning goal in the semi-final against Manchester United and by scoring twice in the final against Inter, which allowed Sevilla to win 3-2 and thus secure the Europa League.
In the 2021/2022 season, De Jong was loaned for a year from FC Barcelona, before returning to PSV in the summer of 2022. In his second spell at PSV, De Jong was twice crowned Dutch champion, and in the 2022/2023 season, the KNVB Cup was won.
Last summer the striker left after long speculation for FC Porto. In November 2025, disaster struck the striker when he suffered a severe cruciate ligament injury that has kept him sidelined ever since.

Noa Lang
In 2017, Noa Lang made his debut in professional football for Jong Ajax and then made his debut for the first team of the Amsterdam club in September 2018. In the middle of the 2019/2020 season, the Ajax management decided to loan out the winger, but due to the outbreak of the coronavirus and the suspension of the Eredivisie, Lang returned to Amsterdam in April 2020.
After three seasons at Club Brugge, with the first season as a loanee, the left winger joined PSV in the summer of 2023. At PSV, Lang quickly made his mark by scoring the only goal on 4 August 2023 in the Johan Cruijff Shield against Feyenoord (0-1).
In his first season at PSV, Lang had to deal with the necessary injuries, which meant his impact was not all that great. In the second season, Lang was a lot fitter and of great value in the closing stages of the competition.
So the wing forward on 11 May 2025 scored two goals in De Kuip against Feyenoord (2-3). In the 99th minute, Lang ensured that PSV took the three points for the second season in a row from Rotterdam-Zuid to Eindhoven and this strike turned out afterwards to be of great importance in the fight for the national title.
Last summer, Lang left for Napoli, but due to a strained relationship with coach Antonio Conte, the forward left for Galatasaray on loan last winter. In Turkey, Lang is of great value and last weekend the Turkish club won the league title with the former PSV player.

Other players who played for both PSV and FC Twente this century include:
Remko Pasveer
Otman Bakkal
Ismaïl Aissati
Orlando Engelaar
Adam Maher

Myron Boadu
