Yes, the KNVB Cup has to come around again at some point. Or rather, in the era of Peter Bosz at PSV, the famous 'double' really does need to be won once. General manager Marcel Brands, for his part, is definitely largely satisfied with PSV's performances.
Nonetheless, the manager of PSV points to two important matters from the current season. He also talks about 'a great challenge' as general manager of PSV.
In 2022 Brands returned as general manager to the Philips Stadium, after having previously been technical director. Since the appointment of Brands, PSV has been national champions three times in a row and managed to reach the knockout stage of the Champions League twice. PSV has set itself the goal of continuing to dominate in the Netherlands in the coming years as well, Brands tells Omroep Brabant.
For Brands, achieving a third star on the shirt of PSV is the main goal. The club currently has 27 league titles and the director’s contract runs until 2029. "I will do everything I can to contribute to that," says Brands. "It’s a great challenge."
Brands assesses PSV's football season with a score of 8. "I think that with the men we should also have won the KNVB Cup, and there's still something lingering from the Champions League, because we were so close to the knockout stage", he explains. "After all those great matches in the Champions League, that extra round would have been deserved", says Marcel Brands.

Tbh die dubbel moet gewoon volgend seizoen. Met Bosz-era kun je niet elke keer "bijna" zijn in Europa en dan ook nog die beker laten liggen... 8 is netjes, maar ik wil 10. 🔥💯
"Het is een mooie uitdaging" zeggen ze altijd, maar i want trophies. Als je 3x op rij kampioen bent moet die beker er dit seizoen echt bij komen, anders blijft het rond Champions League hangen als bijna-PSV.
"Na al die mooie wedstrijden in de Champions League had die extra ronde wel gemogen"... Amen. We waren dichtbij, maar dan ga je voor de beker ook niet schuiven. 👀
Woord voor woord braver dan ik verwacht had: "alles doen om mijn steentje bij te dragen". Prima, maar ik wil vooral zien dat we die CL-smaak ook omzetten in resultaat. 8 is nice, maar ngl mag daar een cup bij, anders blijft het net te middenmoot aanvoelen in de prijzenrace. 🔥
Die dubbele doelstelling van "derde ster" is logisch, maar het voelt alsof de beker nog als excuus blijft hangen. Met Bosz-periode erbij snap ik dat het dubbel een soort obsessie wordt, maar dan moet je ook in januari echt scherp zijn.
Een 8 en toch baalt hij van de gemiste KNVB-beker, tja dat snap ik wel. Zeg maar gewoon dat die "dicht bij de knock-outfase" pijn doet, maar goed, Brands heeft wel gelijk over die dubbel.
I get the motivation, but if we are "dichtbij" de CL knock-out waren, dan moeten we diezelfde scherpte ook in de KNVB-Beker tonen. An 8 is fine, yet he literally zegt dat we die beker hadden moeten winnen. Idk, ik wil acties zien, niet alleen woorden. 👀
"Het is een mooie uitdaging" ja hoor, maar ik hoop dat Brands bedoelt dat er ook echt geknokt wordt in die beker. Vorig seizoen lieten we weer zo'n kans liggen, en dan blijft het bij een 8 als rapportcijfer... tbh dan voelt het wat te mild. 🔥
Marcel Brands zegt "Het is een mooie uitdaging", maar tbh die gemiste KNVB-beker knaagt nog steeds. Als je het seizoen met een 8 beoordeelt, dan moet die cup toch ook echt op het bord komen.
