Aad de Mos predicts a crucial role in the battle for third place
1 min readPSV has long been and is the national champion, but during the last matchday it can play a major role in the race for a ticket in the preliminary round of the Champions League. Peter Bosz’s team plays at home on Sunday against third-placed FC Twente and could be the final help for NEC or Ajax.
FC Twente took over third place from NEC last Sunday since John van den Brom's team itself won 4-0 against Sparta Rotterdam and the Nijmegen side saw themselves lose at FC Groningen (2-1). In addition, Ajax lost 1-2 at home to FC Utrecht, which means the Tukkers are three points ahead of the Amsterdam side and two points ahead of NEC.
In recent days, there has been a lot of speculation that PSV may take it easy on Sunday against FC Twente in order to keep their rival Ajax out of the qualifying round of the billion-dollar competition. Former coach Aad de Mos, however, does not think that Bosz’s team will hold back against FC Twente.
''I don't believe in match-fixing. Knowing Peter Bosz. I'm absolutely convinced that PSV will play host to all comers. Then NEC, Twente and Ajax will have to sort it out themselves'', De Mos tells PSV watcher Rik Elfrink in a video item from Eindhovens Dagblad.
The native from The Hague also expects PSV to simply win against FC Twente and that NEC will therefore finish third and thus qualify for the Champions League preliminary round. ''They take those hits against Go Ahead Eagles. They make two or three goals in that match'', De Mos said about NEC.
With PSV’s motivation, according to the analyst, there’s nothing wrong. ''PSV has been fired up since that whole Ibiza incident. That’s a top club that wants to show: we can do it. We’re so good that we won’t let anyone take a bite out of our sandwich. It will be a very tough afternoon for Twente here, where the pressure is so great now. With a possible defeat, they could just as easily end up fifth,'' concludes De Mos.

"Dan moeten NEC, Twente en Ajax het zelf uitzoeken" ... ja daar ben ik fan van. Alleen hopen dat we ook echt scherp zijn, want Twente kan met één moment ineens balverlies straffen. 👀
Idk man, rustig aan doen om Ajax te helpen was toch ook niet gek geweest. Maar ik neem het liever zoals De Mos: PSV op motivatie, Twente kapot en die NEC trap tegen Go Ahead gewoon laten vallen. 💯
If PSV "rustig aan doet" is Ajax al blij, dus ja... goed dat De Mos dat niet gelooft. Vol gast, en vooral niet die rare controle als we op voorsprong komen. 🔥
Als PSV niet gaat passen of verstopt, dan kunnen NEC en Ajax het zelf uitzoeken zoals De Mos zegt. Maar ik ben bang voor zo'n wedstrijd waarin we te laat schakelen en Twente eruit loert. 👀

"PSV vol gast gaat geven" zou ik als goal-machine willen zien. Twente thuis kan echt stug zijn, dus ik verwacht dat Bosz ze met tempo pijn doet, anders wordt het alsnog spannend 🔥.
De Mos zegt dat Bosz vol gas gaat, maar ik snap die "competitievervalsing" discussie nooit. Als we goed voetballen wint Twente toch, en dan zijn NEC en Ajax niet aan het rekenen.
De Mos zegt dat PSV vol gas geeft, en tbh dat voelt ook het meest logisch. Thuis tegen Twente moeten we gewoon die druk erop leggen, dan laat je NEC/Ajax zelf stikken.
Ik snap het idee van competitievervalsing niet, tbh. Maar als PSV echt vol gaat, dan krijgen Twente en NEC ook gewoon geen cadeaus... en Ajax staat dan alsnog te kijken 👀.
De Mos zegt precies wat ik ook hoop: Peter Bosz laat PSV niet "rustig" spelen. Als Twente onder druk komt, ga je bijna vanzelf kansen pakken.
