1 min readA lot of disbelief from the ESPN correspondent on duty after hearing the statements made by current Ajax coach Oscar Garcia. The current head coach of the Amsterdammers thinks PSV has, for the time being, become champions for the last time and that the title will go to Ajax next season.
'And I truly believe that Ajax will be champions next season,' begins the Spaniard. Whether that happens with him as coach is still unclear. 'With me or with another coach. Next season, we all start again on zero points. I really believe that,' it sounds.
The Spanish coach is then told that PSV currently has a 500-point lead over Ajax and has much more money to spend. However, Garcia sticks to his position.
García then provides a simple explanation for his optimism. 'The key is that we need to win more matches than the others.' He also has a great deal of confidence in technical director Jordi Cruijff. 'It would not be a surprise; I really believe in it. We have to work hard and I’m sure that his plans will succeed.'
The road upward has, according to García, been set in motion since the moment Cruijff arrived. The Spaniard has strikingly a lot of confidence in the technical director and does not see PSV becoming champions next season. "Next season everyone just starts again on zero points. I don't think it would be a miracle if we were to become champions. I simply believe in his hard work and his plans", García said about the expected turnaround under Cruijff.
Ajax closes the season on Sunday with an away match against SC Heerenveen. The Amsterdam club can finish third, fourth or fifth. That depends on the results of NEC and FC Twente, who respectively take on Go Ahead Eagles and PSV.

Tbh idk wat Garcia bedoelt met "laatste landstitel PSV". Als PSV volgend seizoen weer net zo doorloopt, dan is het gewoon pech voor Ajax. Maar het idee dat ze met winst en hard werken ineens nummer 1 halen... we zullen zien 👀.

Honestly, i respect the belief, but its cope to say it like it's destiny. tbh PSV is not a "project" you can just restart overnight. The only way Ajax is champion next season is if they win more games, AND we drop badly, which i dont see happening.

Garcia praat alsof we 500 punten "weggooien" en alles weer op nul begint, lol. Als PSV geld en kwaliteit heeft, is dat toch juist omdat we het werk blijven doen. En die uitspraak "we moeten meer wedstrijden winnen" snap ik, maar dan moet je het ook gewoon halen tegen ons.
Garcia praat alsof PSV ineens in een game gaat pauzeren met 500 punten voorsprong lol. "Volgend seizoen beginnen we allemaal weer op nul punten" klinkt mooi, maar Eredivisie heeft geen knopje reset.
