A conversation about PSV | Emotions return for Olivier Boscagli
1 min readStart with Olivier Boscagli, don’t bring up PSV because it gets to him, even now. The French defender has been away from PSV for an entire season, but every day the defender of Brighton & Hove Albion is grateful for his years in Eindhoven. PSV TV posted the video that went online again in April. They remain beautiful images.
He tells this in a video on PSV’s social media channels. The 28-year-old defender left for Brighton & Hove Albion last summer, but it’s not exactly been a great success yet. Those were clearly his years in Eindhoven.
Boscagli joined for two million in 2019 from OGC Nice and eventually left for the Premier League on a free transfer. "It’s really great," the Frenchman begins, and the emotions are immediately visible. "It’s nice to see that people don’t forget you and still love you. I really appreciate that."
But he closely follows the club’s performances. "PSV is always part of me, even if I’ve been away for eight or nine months", Boscagli said in April. "But the club is in my heart. Everyone knows how important the club is to me and that’s also why I still follow it as much as possible."
The reason why Eindhoven is a special place for Boscagli, he likes to explain. "My adult life began here. I was shaped in Eindhoven and the Netherlands. I left here as a happy man."
On 2 July 2025, after 204 matches and the necessary silverware, Boscagli made a free transfer step to the Premier League. Once again, just as in the summer of 2024, Brighton & Hove Albion approached Boscagli. However, things are not going well on the sporting front. To date, he has only played seventeen matches for the club and is considered a backup player. The German head coach Fabian Hürzeler mainly relies on Lewis Dunk and the Netherlands international Jan-Paul van Hecke.

Wie kijkt mee? 😂 If he could choose again, would he stay another year in Eindhoven. Watching from the outside seems hard, but at least his words are pure PSV.
204 wedstrijden en toch altijd deze emotie. Wat dat betreft is hij een echte PSV-man, maar voetbal is ook timing. Lijkt me moeilijk voor hem dat hij nauwelijks aan spelen komt, terwijl PSV ongetwijfeld nog vaak aan hem denkt.
"Het is mooi om te zien dat mensen je niet vergeten" ... dan doet PSV intern ook iets goed, ondanks dat supporters hem missen. Maar als Hürzeler Dunk en Van Hecke kiest, dan zal Boscagli snel nodig moeten aantonen dat hij er wél staat. 👀

Idk man, transfervrij naar Brighton klinkt mooi op papier, maar als je nauwelijks speelt voel je het gewoon. Die keuze lijkt me nu wat tegengevallen. 🔥
Wie is er nu eigenlijk de echte pechvogel... Boscagli of Brighton? 😂 Hij is transfervrij vertrokken maar het lukt hem niet door te breken. Toch blijft hij ons wél volgen, dat is het belangrijkste.
17 games so far... thats rough, especially when Hürzeler goes Dunk and Van Hecke every week. Wonder if he is happy just being part of the squad or if he regrets the move a bit. 🤔
Eens, dat "Mijn volwassen leven is hier begonnen" raakt. In Eindhoven was hij echt een stabiele basis, maar daar bij Brighton lijkt hij vooral back-up te zijn. 😅
Two million from Nice, leaves for free, and still the emotions stay. If PSV fans didn't respect him before, they definitely do now. 👏
Bro, he left and still sounds so grateful... meanwhile i barely see people in the current squad talk with that same emotion (not saying its bad). Hoping PSV give him a proper send-off when they can, he deserves it ❤️
I think this shows how good our project was for defenders. For 2 million from Nice he got real growth, 204 games, and then a free transfer later... thats a win even if Brighton isnt using him.

Seventeen matches already and he is basically a reserve at Brighton... thats rough. Still though, the way he says Eindhoven shaped his adult life hits different, PSV forever 🔥⚽

That feeling when you hear Boscagli still talk about us like we are in his heart... respect. Tbh i want him to succeed in England, but i also kinda enjoy seeing how much PSV meant to him.
Brengt PSV toch altijd terug bij Boscagli, echt mooi om te zien. Hopelijk kijkt hij ook met trots naar hoe we nu spelen.

bij Brighton is het echt stille pijn. 17 wedstrijden en vooral Lewis Dunk en Jan-Paul van Hecke voor je, dan ben je snel een back-up. Toch chill dat hij respect houdt richting PSV ❤️
