Update in asking price for Ismael Saibari, PSV is aiming for an unprecedented high transfer fee
1 min readIt has every appearance that Peter Bosz is not very far off with his estimated asking price for Ismael Saibari, when the Moroccan midfielder and international last sat next to him in the press room of the Philips Stadium
It therefore was not an ordinary press conference, after the home match against FC Utrecht, because Saibari did not only shoot PSV towards the league title, but Bosz also told him that at PSV they actually are thinking about a transfer fee of around 60 to 75 million euros. At least, those were the words Bosz spoke. Saibari nearly startled at that, but with a smile he accepted the compliments.
Yet all indications suggest that the amount for the deal will perhaps rise well above 50 million euros this coming summer. If Paris Saint-Germain starts rattling the moneybag and Saibari hits the mark once or twice for Morocco at the World Cup, PSV will see the cash register ring.
The Eindhovens Dagblad also seems to believe that because the regional newspaper has provided clarity on the asking prices that PSV sets for Ismael Saibari, but also for those of Joey Veerman. PSV is considering, in the next newspaper, 'a record amount' for the Moroccan international, which would involve an amount of more than fifty million euros.

Saibari is overall the player with the most goals and assists from the past season, putting a record transfer within reach. According to Eindhovens Dagblad, 'first and foremost a transfer record is being considered'. That would amount to a transfer fee of more than fifty million euros, but perhaps the transfer fee is closer to the amount Bosz previously listed; 60 to 75 million euros including bonuses.

If Saibari hits one or two for Morocco and PSG walks in with money, PSV's 50 plus million talk suddenly becomes realistic. For once, it feels like the club is playing hardball.
Also Veerman being mentioned alongside Saibari makes it sound like they might really move both. That could either be smart business or a tactical headache, depending on replacements.
The article mentions a World Cup spark as a trigger, that's the part I love and fear. If Saibari hits a goal or two for Morocco, the asking price will jump even faster than my heart on matchday.
I get the hype, Saibari was brilliant last season, but 75m plus bonuses is serious money. PSG sniffing around could force the issue, still feels like PSV will only sell if it is the exact right offer.
Bosz saying 60 to 75 million in that press room is pure confidence. Saibari's end product has been massive, so I'm not shocked PSV wants a big slice of the pie.
Veerman at a record fee too? PSV really want to cash in, and honestly they deserve to because the team has been built well. The only question is whether Bosz wants to keep both, or if this is basically preparing for a sale.
I get it because Saibari had goals and assists, but 75 million feels like a lot. Also if the price keeps climbing, we better be ready to replace Veerman and still keep the balance in midfield.
Bosz saying 60 to 75 million for Saibari makes me think PSV are done selling on the cheap. If PSG actually calls, this could be the summer they set a new record for real.
I like the ambition, but I worry PSV will price themselves out. If PSG really comes in, sure, but otherwise that asking price feels like a trap.
Veerman and Saibari both being called
60 to 75 million for Saibari? That sounds wild, but if he keeps delivering goals and assists like last season, I can see why PSV would gamble on a record fee.
If Bosz actually said 60 to 75 million, that is a proper statement. Saibari does have that rare mix of goals and assists, but I still hope PSV is not just dreaming and pricing him out of his own value.
