Rik Elfrink expects a transfer for a starting player: “But that’s less concrete than Ismael Saibari.”
1 min readPSV seems virtually certain to lose Ismael Saibari to FC Bayern Munich. Saibari himself has reached an oral agreement with the German champions, and PSV also appears to be ready with Der Rekordmeister, making the transfer only a matter of time.
Alongside the impending departure of the midfielder, there is also a strong chance that Sergino Dest will leave PSV after the World Cup. Dest is currently preparing for the upcoming World Cup with Team USA and has, in recent months, spoken several times about his desire to leave.
PSV watcher Rik Elfrink also expects Dest to leave. ''Sergiño Dest is on a list, but that's less concrete than Ismael Saibari. There's no talk between the clubs about him, but that could happen after the World Cup. Dest also seems to have a clause, for a million or 23. And that seems like a fair amount for a full-back'', Elfrink says in the podcast Heet van de Herdgang of Eindhovens Dagblad.
This week it became known that the American international has a release clause in his contract between 23 and 25 million euros, and according to the PSV watcher, PSV negotiated this well with FC Barcelona. ''I think PSV has negotiated that deal very well. Both with Dest and with FC Barcelona. They will still receive a sell-on percentage of around twenty percent, in my view. And that's because he came to PSV on a free transfer at the time. If Dest makes a transfer for this amount, then it will have been a great deal for all parties'', the journalist says.

According to Elfrink, it can almost be nothing else than that Dest will be seen next season in a different kit than the red-and-white of PSV. ''FC Barcelona has recovered part of the investment and hasn't had to pay his salary. That is what PSV had to take on. Well, PSV has benefited from Dest and a nice transfer fee has happened for him. And Dest has also done not badly himself. If he can make a nice transfer now, that is also good for him. I do expect there will be a nice transfer coming for him; that can almost not be otherwise'', concludes the PSV watcher.

Rik says Dest is "less concreet" than Saibari, but the numbers make it feel pretty concrete. 23m for a back sounds like a fair market-ish deal, not robbery. 🤔
Dest with a 23-25m clause is not small business. If PSV also negotiated the 20% sell-on, that is actually pretty w for them, ngl. 👀
Dest having a clause and still not being fully "over" is so typical. One good WC and suddenly it's goodbye, see you later, Sergiño 🤡
Elfrink zegt dat Dest op een lijst staat maar minder concreet is dan Saibari, toch verwacht hij na het WK beweging. Die clausule van 23 tot 25 miljoen klinkt echt als "wachten tot de juiste timing".
If Saibari is really gone, midfield depth is gonna get tested. But tbh if Bayern moves on it, PSV needs to strike fast with replacements.
That 20% resale to Barca is actually a smart structure by PSV. If Dest goes for 23-25m, everyone wins, tbh.
"Maar dat is minder concreet dan Ismael Saibari." Agree. Saibari is already the club-to-club story, Dest feels more like a post-WK trigger with that clause.
If Saibari is truly a done deal, then Dest is the next domino. €23-25m for a back is not bad at all 🔥
If Saibari to Bayern is really "kicked off", i can live with it as long as PSV replace him fast. Dest also feels like a ticking clock, that 23-25m clause is just too juicy 🔥
Als Saibari echt richting Bayern gaat, dan voelt dat alsnog als een klap, maar ik snap het wel. Dest erbij daarna, dat wordt pas echt een zomer met flinke keuzes. 👀
