1 min readRicardo Pepi, along with Sergino Dest, is already eliminated from the World Cup at home. Tuesday night, Team USA lost 1-4 to Belgium and as a result the Americans are out of the tournament.
Before the World Cup, Pepi had already for some time been linked with a move away from PSV. In March, the American seemed on his way to Fulham FC, but this transfer was ultimately called off at the very last moment, leaving the striker still in the service of PSV.
Last month, the forward was linked by the German outlet Kicker to clubs in Germany and England without naming any concrete names. In this regard, Pepi is still in good standing on the market, and so it is certainly not out of the question that the striker will leave PSV this summer.
Yet the Eindhoven newspaper Eindhovens Dagblad manages to report that the intention is for the American attacker to wear PSV's shirt again next season. ''At the moment it appears that he and PSV are entering the transfer summer with the intention of working together for the fourth year in a row,'' the ED writes about it.
Now Pepi has been ruled out at the World Cup, the forward will go on vacation for the first three weeks before joining PSV again. The striker also has a contract until 2030 and despite a supporting role at the World Cup, it is still uncertain where the future of the forward lies.

Ngl snap ik de twijfel. Het ED zegt intentie voor seizoen 4 op rij, maar met die Kicker-linkjes en een contract tot 2030 denk ik dat PSV altijd opties open wil houden. Als Pepi volgend jaar weer beperkt wordt, dan is die miljoenentransfer naar een Europese topclub ineens niet meer zo ondenkbaar.
USA eruit tegen België, echt zuur voor Pepi, maar voor ons kan het ook rust geven. Jammer wel dat Dest ook wegvalt uit het toernooi, dat doet pijn aan de international vibes. 🔥
"Het heeft er op dit moment de schijn van dat hij en PSV de transferzomer ingaan met de intentie om voor het vierde jaar op rij te gaan samenwerken"... als dat klopt dan is dit gewoon topplanning. Alleen vraag ik me af: gaat Pepi volgend seizoen echt meer minuten krijgen of blijft het net als op het WK bijrol?

3 weken vakantie na het WK en dan weer aansluiten, prima planning maar ik ben benieuwd hoeveel speeltijd hij krijgt. Als de concurrentie voorin lekker draait, wordt zijn 'bijrol op het WK' bij ons ook gewoon bijrol. Contract tot 2030 is mooi, maar clubs verkopen wel degelijk met zo'n looptijd.
Als Kicker "Duitsland en Engeland" noemt zonder namen dan ruik ik vooral geruchtenbusiness. Maar met een contract tot 2030 moet PSV ook niet gaan panikeren als er interesse komt. 👀
Tbh ik snap die Fulham-twist totaal niet, maar goed dat Pepi nu gewoon bij ons blijft volgens ED. Vier jaar samenwerking klinkt als vertrouwen, niet als toeval. ⚽
Tbh Pepi wordt wel even verkocht als hij volgend jaar nog maar 1-2 goals per maand pakt. Maar die 'intentie om voor het vierde jaar op rij samen te werken' klinkt echt als PSV die hem wil houden. Denk dat als er een echte toptransfer komt, PSV alsnog zal buigen.
