New multi-million contract at PSV? “Interested club isn’t pushing through anymore”
1 min readMany clubs have shown and continue to show open and serious interest in Mauro Júnior, which would make it plausible that the versatile Brazilian might have just played his last match for PSV.
However, the summer transfer window has only just opened and a departure is therefore still always in the air. For now, Mauro Júnior is still a PSV player. That would be mainly because the interested Fenerbahce has not been able to get a deal done for the Brazilian PSV player.
And so it currently seems that there is still no question of an imminent transfer of Mauro Júnior to Fenerbahçe. Despite earlier reports, the Eindhovens Dagblad says that the Turkish top club has not yet moved for the player who next season could just as well be the new captain until Jerdy Schouten is fit again.
Not only the Turkish top club seemed keen to take Mauro Júnior from PSV, FC Porto has also been seriously in the market for the Brazilian PSV player for months. Voetbal International recently reported that Fenerbahçe, following FC Porto, had contacted the agent of Mauro Júnior. There would even have been a personal agreement with the Brazilian already, it was said from Istanbul. Moreover, Mauro Júnior would have had a fixed transfer clause of twelve million euros included in his contract, which would make a transfer easier.

'Fenerbahce has not yet pushed through on Mauro Júnior. The option has certainly been discussed in Turkey, but no one from that club has yet been to PSV and for now the Brazilian is therefore simply still in Eindhoven', the Eindhovens Dagblad writes this weekend about the future of Mauro Júnior, who may nevertheless then just be with PSV after all.
'I’m not giving you any guarantees that Mauro will stay, though. There are plenty of clubs that are keeping a close eye on him,' reports the Eindhoven newspaper about the Brazilian. Mauro was absent on Saturday due to an injury in the friendly match against Royal Antwerp FC. For now, PSV wants to keep Mauro Júnior tied down for longer, in the form of a new, once again improved, multimillion-euro contract.
Mogelijk komende week terug tegen Rakow.

"the midfield control" was there for spells, not for a full 90. We need better ball security from the 8s, otherwise every break turns into a stress test. 🤬
That lineup decision worries me. If we start with the wrong tempo, we lose the duels and then its only damage control. Also, if the article is right about pressing triggers, then we better actually commit as a unit. 🤬
"PSV Inside" talking about our balance, but it feels like we go too narrow in possession. When the full-back doesnt overlap soon enough, the midfield just gets crowded. Need more width and earlier switches if we want it to click, fr. 🚀
If PSV are still building from the back, idk how they survive the press. Samenvattend: great idea, but the turnovers will hurt against faster teams. 👀
Eens. Dumfries needs to stop drifting inside for 10 minutes at a time, PSV lose width and it kills the counters. Give him the touchline early, then it becomes peak.
If PSV really went for that higher press, it makes sense why the game looked so stretched. But once Antwerp found that first pass over the midfield, imo it was chaos for the back line. 👀
