The transfer arrangement between PSV and AZ around the million-euro transfer of Sven Mijnans to PSV is nearly fully set up. The clubs are nearly in agreement and that will result in a prompt medical examination.

Mijnans spoke extensively over the past few days with the new head coach of the Amsterdam side, but in the end wanted to go to only one club after PSV got involved in the transfer frenzy. Despite the good conversations with Michel, Mijnans decided immediately to choose PSV’s offer.

Transfer journalist Mounir Boualin reports that the new head coach, Míchel, has spoken extensively with AZ midfielder, for whom a 'mega salary' would have been on the table in Amsterdam. Nevertheless, Mijnans still chose to make the move to PSV. Things can turn out differently.

Earlier this week it became clear that PSV would once again attempt to bring Mijnans to Eindhoven during this transfer window. PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad, however, spoke of 'strong competition' for PSV because of the concrete clubs Juventus, Como and RB Leipzig. However, the clubs mentioned cannot offer the stability that PSV can provide for Mijnans.

PSV will transfer about 13 million euros to AZ to buy out the two more years of the ongoing contract of Mijnans. That is a hefty transfer fee to call it. With the arrival of Mijnans, PSV is taking the departure of Ismael Saibari into account.

'Míchel spoke extensively earlier with Mijnans to bring him to Amsterdam', Boualin writes on X. 'The Spaniard was very eager to have him and the people in Amsterdam were willing to offer a huge salary', the journalist reports based on sources around AZ. "When PSV entered the picture, Mijnans wanted only one thing: to get to the reigning national champions as quickly as possible", Boualin reports.
