Ibrahim Afellay is starting for PSV

Ibrahim Afellay fears that Peter Bosz may not be tenable for PSV. The former assistant of Bosz thinks that from Zeist they will be drawing Bosz in, and that the coach from Apeldoorn cannot resist the temptation to choose for Oranje.

Afellay sees that Peter Bosz’s speculation about the national team coach position has not been cut off, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and that says something according to the 53-time international. The former PSV player would also understand it if Peter Bosz is still open to Oranje.

Bosz has been mentioned for longer as a possible successor to Ronald Koeman, but in February he extended his contract with PSV until mid-2028. If the KNVB wants something, PSV and Peter Bosz will have to be convinced. "Undoubtedly. But you don't know what agreements he has made with the club", Afellay begins with NOS.

Afellay then refers to Saturday afternoon’s interview at De Herdgang, where Bosz walked away after questions about the Netherlands national team. "He can basically do everything by saying: no, it’s not an option for me."

Sjoerd van Ramshorst chimes in. "He probably isn’t doing that for nothing. Otherwise he would say that, wouldn’t he?", the presenter wonders. "You’re the devil’s advocate. I only say what I hear what he’s indicating now", Afellay responds. "At the moment that he says: it’s not an option for me, because with my full consent I extended my contract with PSV for a number of years. Then you cut everything off. Now, of course, the media will keep speculating."

Afellay does understand it if Bosz would like to become the new national team coach. "It’s just healthy ambition, isn’t it?
