German top club makes its move with millions for PSV: “The amount was rejected”

1 min read

For quite a while, at least for several seasons in a row, it seemed that Bundesliga giant Red Bull Leipzig was on the way to becoming a permanent part of the German top, but gradually the Red Bull club is again regarded simply as a normal German super-club, one that makes FC Bayern’s life difficult now and then.

Red Bull Leipzig is now also regarded as a club that regularly makes life difficult for PSV, but in terms of enticing young talented players—just like PSV itself regularly knocks on the door of other Eredivisie clubs as well as foreign clubs to take over young talent. In the meantime, Red Bull Leipzig together with Borussia Dortmund is once again knocking on PSV’s door.

In particular, RB Leipzig has shown far-reaching interest in the sixteen-year-old Dyran Stam. This is reported by Eindhovens Dagblad. PSV has even reportedly already turned down a multi-million offer. Stam, who is known within the youth academy as a major talent, has already been in the news before regarding his future.

Peter Bosz is so charmed by him that he even took the teenager with him on training camp. Stam is the son of Ronnie Stam, the former footballer who played for, among others, NAC Breda, FC Twente, Wigan Athletic and Standard Liège.

'Leipzig already contacted PSV several weeks ago and has about 1.5 million euros available for Stam, who still has a contract until 2028 with PSV', reports the Eindhovens Dagblad. 'The Eindhoven club considers the defender so interesting for the future that the amount has been turned down and that Stam has been told that PSV wants to continue with him for longer. In the meantime, interest from Dortmund is still simmering', the regional newspaper says.

According to Eindhovens Dagblad, Stam does not rule out a transfer to RB Leipzig. Last season, the left-back was mainly active with PSV Under-17, but he also played a few matches for PSV Under-19. In particular, a lot is expected of the young Stam next season.

tbh 1.5m is kind of low for someone they see as future-ready. If Leipzig has Dortmund in the background too, PSV should really be thinking bigger sell-on clauses and performance bonuses, not just "no". Stam in O-19 is promising though, so let him develop ⚽

If we rejected 1,5 million, that says enough about Dyran Stam. Bosz literally took him on camp, thats trust, not marketing. 👀

I like that PSV stands firm here. If they genuinely rejected the bid and told him they want to keep him longer, that sounds like a clear plan for the left-back position. Fingers crossed Stam keeps progressing and doesnt get swallowed by German pressure 😅
