From Munich it sounds: “He still has to prove himself to a big club.”

The news had been in the air for a while and was made public worldwide on Monday. Ismael Saibari is leaving PSV and moving to the German powerhouse FC Bayern Munich for 55 million euros including bonuses.

In the night from Saturday to Sunday Dutch time, the midfielder was still of great value for Morocco in the World Cup match against Brazil (1-1). Saibari made it 0-1 and thereby scored his first goal ever at a World Cup finals.

''Why Bayern are bringing him in? The club is looking for a back-up for the number 10, left-wing and striker positions. They need a reliable player who can score and is versatile'', says the German journalist Philipp Kessler from TZ München in conversation with VoetbalPrimeur.

Where Saibari at PSV mainly played as the number ten and regularly this season alternated with Guus Til, the Moroccan international at FC Bayern is being brought in above all for the position on the left wing. ''Kompany is very taken with him. Saibari was the best player outside the top competitions they had to prepare for this season,'' Kessler continues his story.

The journalist thinks that Saibari is going to get a lot of playing time in South Germany because Der Rekordmeister has a not-too-large squad. ''You can be sure, because they want to give players like Kane, Luis Díaz and Jamal Musiala enough rest. The squad is not big, so everyone plays an important role under Kompany,'' said Kessler.

Despite the fact that the midfielder also showed his skills this season in the Champions League, he is still an unknown player among the supporters of FC Bayern. ''To be honest, they don't know much about him. The fans have watched his highlights on social media and see that he is a great player. But: he still has to prove himself at a big club. They think he's a good addition, but he isn't the star or the big talent they had hoped for as a back-up for Díaz'', the journalist says.

55 miljoen is bizar geld tbh.
