Besides FC Porto, two other UCL clubs are interested in Mauro
1 min readLast week, news broke that, among others, FC Porto and Leeds United would have shown interest in Mauro Junior after the report went public that the versatile Brazilian has a departure clause in his contract. Voetbal International wrote that last week.
In addition to FC Porto and Leeds United, two other clubs that will compete in the Champions League next season would also be eyeing the signature of the Brazilian, who made his debut for PSV’s first team under Phillip Cocu in October 2017. As such, among others, the Italian Como and the Spanish Real Betis have shown interest in PSV’s strongman.
Also due to this exit clause, it is expected that PSV will make the Brazilian a new offer in order to work out this clause. ''Mauro can be acquired for a relatively low amount'', writes the Eindhoven Dagblad about this.
Mauro had a strong season at PSV and was a very important cog in Peter Bosz’s setup. The Brazilian was initially, by the coach, deployed as a defensive midfielder when Bosz decided to move captain Jerdy Schouten one line back.

Also due to a number of injuries to left-back Anass Salah-Eddine, Mauro was, from time to time, also deployed in the left-back position, meaning his place in midfield was taken over again by Paul Wanner. Mauro himself appears to have expressed, for the first time, a desire for a transfer, and the Brazilian is reportedly open to a move to Southern Europe.

NgA glad the article mentions the fullbacks overlapping, but they cant float too high without covering. If the holding midfielder isnt tracking, then its just inviting counters. 💀
Eens. 🚀⚽
"PSV must be more clinical" is fair, but clinical also comes from structure. If the article is hinting at more direct play, then fine, but we need better second balls after the first pass to the front man.
The quote about rotating the squad sounds nice, but in big PSV games consistency matters. I'd rather trust the core and bring changes after 60 minutes. Otherwise it feels like tactical roulette. ⚽
"PSV's pressing has been a game-changer" ja, maar alleen als de backline niet te hoog blijft staan. In de counter-frames werd het soms echt gevaarlijk, especially na balverlies. 👀
Goal!! thats the kind of direct football that makes PSV scary. Just dont slow down after the lead, keep the pressure on. 🔥🔥🔥
"PSV are pressing high to win it back quickly" is nice in theory, but if the press is one step late we look shaky every time. tbh i want more control first, then break with speed. 🚀
Goal!! Put our press on them and suddenly it's chaos for the opponent. If the front three are connected like the article suggests, we are scoring early. 🚀
did they really leave X player that isolated?
Dont know why everyone is acting like the winger setup is perfect. Last matches showed we miss the early cutback, and teams like Ajax will punish that every time. Need more tempo off the first phase. 🤬
GOAL!! If the finishing looks like that we win ugly games too. Just dont let it turn into 'just vibes' in defense though 👀⚽
If PSV go with that same midfield shape again, i think itll get exploited in the half-spaces. Til looks dangerous but he needs help turning those dangerous moments into goals, not just shots. 💯⚽
tbh i just want the wingers to commit and stop drifting inside too early. that leaves space for counter attacks, and every time it happens i start yelling at my tv... 🔥
If PSV are going 4-3-3 again, that midfield better actually protect the full-backs. The article's focus on quick transitions is nice but we still get exposed when the press breaks.
"We need more control in midfield" is fair, but i feel like that is exactly where PSV already wins most games. If Tillman gets quiet again, then this plan dies. 🔥
If the article is right about PSV pushing that high line, im scared for the transitions. Tbh Sangare and Obispo have to be on their A-game or its gonna get ugly fast. 👀
