Valentine Driessen points again to Peter Bosz: “How simple can it be?”
1 min readUnlike our neighboring countries Germany and Belgium, it is still fairly calm in the Netherlands when it comes to appointing a new national team coach. Arne Slot appears to be the ideal candidate since Slot is now available after his dismissal at Liverpool FC, but despite this, there is still nothing clear about the succession of Ronald Koeman.
Valentijn Driessen from De Telegraaf thinks he knows why it takes so long for the KNVB to reach an agreement with the coach. Driessen tells this in the podcast Kick-off from De Telegraaf.
''I heard something about that Slot wants to sign for two years. That he would like a period of two years, but the KNVB wants four years'', says the journalist.
According to Driessen, however, this is ideal. ''But I think: if that's a problem, then it's actually very easy to solve. First you spend two years with Slot, then you talk. If that doesn't work, then you bring in Peter Bosz. How simple can it be? That seems to me like the ideal scenario'', the reporter is convinced.
PSV-watcher Jeroen Kapteijns also shares the opinion of his colleague. ''They should do it right away for two years if he is willing to step in. You’ve got to grab that with both hands. That would be great. Bosz has made no secret of the fact that he would like it. Bosz starts the car immediately if they want to talk about two years. This would be a great, easy and the best solution'', according to Kapteijns.
After that, Driessen envisions the solution if the KNVB doesn’t come to an agreement with Slot. ''If this were the stumbling block, then you’d get the strong impression that they want to move Reiziger forward. I don’t think that’s such a good idea'', the journalist concludes.

Driessen roept dat het "heel makkelijk op te lossen" is, maar ik vraag me af of er achter de schermen meer speelt dan contractduur. Als het puur 2 vs 4 jaar is, dan ben ik het met de PSV-watcher eens: dan moet je gewoon pakken wat je kan krijgen. ⚽
"Twee jaar moeten ze meteen doen" helemaal mee eens. Bosz wil doorpakken, Reiziger door schuiven klinkt alsof ze weer gokken met een minder zeker profiel. Gewoon duidelijkheid maken en door. 🔥
Bosz als plan B is logisch, maar die zin over "Reiziger naar voren schuiven" vind ik echt zwak. Dat klinkt alsof ze geen plan hebben, alleen een nooduitweg. Knap dat Driessen het "ideale scenario" noemt, maar voor hetzelfde geld is Slot gewoon niet beschikbaar of zijn de voorwaarden niet haalbaar.
Two years and then Bosz? Bro dat is peak decision tree. Ik zie het al voor me: Slot 1-2 jaar, daarna Bosz op ervaring en vuur. Zou ik niet eens raar vinden.
If Slot "vier jaar wil" en KNVB "twee wil", dan is het toch nog steeds vooral onderhandeling. Kapteijns zegt: pak met twee handen aan, maar ik hoop dat ze dit soort dingen niet doen ten koste van een realistisch traject voor de voetbalstijl.
Jeroen Kapteijns heeft gelijk, twee jaar aanpakken als hij bereid is is echt slim. Alleen vraag ik me af: bedoelen ze niet gewoon dat de KNVB panikeert als Slot moeilijk doet? Dan krijg je dus Bosz ja, maar dan ineens wel onder tijdsdruk. 👀
Driessen gaat me te makkelijk. Slot is top, maar KNVB dat ineens flexibel moet zijn omdat het simpel is, no way. Als Bosz "meteen start de auto" wil, prima, maar PSV moet ook niet weer een domino-effect krijgen in de zomer. 🤡
"Hoe simpel kan het zijn?" zegt hij, maar de KNVB maakt er normaal juist een soap van. Ik snap de logica, maar Bosz als plan B voelt voor PSV fans ook als een enorme prikkel. Dat zou echt wraak-ready zijn.
Two jaar met Slot en daarna doorpakken, tbh klinkt beter dan maanden trainerraad spelen. Maar als ze echt Bosz als optie klaar hebben staan, waarom rekken ze het dan zo op? 👀
Tbh "Hoe simpel kan het zijn?" is precies wat wij al weken roepen. Twee jaar met Slot, en als het faalt meteen Bosz. Voor PSV-fans klinkt dat als een win-win, zelfs als het pijnlijk is dat Bosz weer in beeld komt... 🔥
