These are the captains of PSV in the 2026/2027 season
1 min readIn the previous season, Jerdy Schouten was appointed PSV's new captain by Peter Bosz after Luuk de Jong left for FC Porto. Now that Schouten is injured until at least the beginning of 2027, Bosz has named a new captain for that period.
Mauro Junior will be the new captain of PSV up to and including the injury to Schouten. Schouten will take the role over again as soon as the midfielder and defender is back.
In addition, Bosz has named Ivan Perišić as his second captain and Joey Veerman will serve as the third captain until then. Notably, the coach has appointed two players to be his captains who have an exit clause in their contract.
Both Mauro and Veerman can be picked up for a certain amount from the Philips Stadium. Earlier, Fenerbahçe SK was still eyeing the Brazilian, while nothing concrete is going on around Veerman.
At the same time, there is also still the question of what will happen this summer with Ivan Perisic. Last week, rumors surfaced that the Croat would be flirting with a return to Internazionale.

Joey Veerman derde aanvoerder tot die tijd... oké, maar dan wil ik hem wel zien met meer verantwoordelijkheid. Als hij weer te veel aan de bal hangt zonder sturing dan gaat het wringen in die rol.
Perisic tweede aanvoerder is top, maar ik geloof nog niet in rust tot de zomer klaar is. Als Inter echt komt, dan voelt dit meer als een tijdelijke captain dan een plan voor de lange termijn. 🔥
Tbh dat dubbele met vertrekclausules is wel interessant. Als Mauro en Veerman echt kunnen worden opgehaald, dan is dit ook een beetje een risico, maar wel slim van Bosz om in ieder geval spelers klaar te zetten.
Mauro Junior als aanvoerder tot Schouten terug is echt logisch, maar ik vraag me af of het team dan wel dezelfde controle behoudt. Tbh hoop dat Veerman als derde de rust brengt, want zonder Schouten kan het middenveld kwetsbaar worden.
"Schouten geblesseerd tot minstens begin 2027" echt zuur. Hopelijk Mauro pakt het op, want aanvoerderschap is ook communicatie en duels winnen, niet alleen praten. 👀
Mauro Junior als aanvoerder vind ik een logische keuze zolang Schouten eruit ligt. Schouten terug en Bosz draait gewoon door, maar je mist wel dat echte tempo in de controle.
