Cees Geel had a clear message for PSV fans in 2004

Last week, news emerged that actor Cees Geel has died at the age of 61 following a cardiac arrest. In addition to being an actor, Geel was also a passionate supporter of PSV, despite the fact that he came from Schagen in North Holland.

Frits Bovers, chairman of the PSV Fans United fan club, conducted an interview with the actor in 2004. Both of them met in the summer of 2004 in Manchester, where PSV at that time was taking part in the Vodafone Cup.

In that interview, the actor said, among other things, where his love for PSV came from. Geel said he found PSV 'the nicest team in the Netherlands.'

''I think PSV players also always have something extra. It’s the team where I feel most at home, and over the years it has become a real addiction,'' the actor said at the time.

Furthermore, the deceased actor said that at the time it was easy for him to get along with footballers such as Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Wilfred Bouma. In addition, Geel was a great admirer of Luc Nilis, and the Belgian was, for him, his favorite PSV player of all time.

After giving his favorite PSV team of all time, the actor also wanted to get an important message across to fellow supporters. "PSV supporters should have no use for the West and should only look at themselves. Let them burst over in the West. We have a wonderful club and a wonderful stadium," Geel concluded the interview from 2004.
