Much praise for PSV talent: 'Now a fully-fledged member of the selection'
1 min readLast season, Peter Bosz gave Belgian talent Noah Fernandez his debut in PSV’s first team. In February of this year, Bosz added Fernandez permanently to the first-team squad, and during the preparations for 2026/2027, the young Belgian made the right impression.
Even at Bosz, the midfielder makes a strong impression. This is what the training coach lets Voetbal International know in a conversation.
''It is a big difference when you compare him with two years ago. He was a small, arrogant and annoying little man who was allowed to train with us. He went back to the youth ranks, came back and suddenly you could see: hey, he has become more mature. And Noah is now a fully fledged selection player, whom we count when we add up the number of players together'', as the coach explains.
Fernandez is also taking part with PSV on their training camp in Germany, just like Joël van den Berg, Fabian Merién and Tijn Smolenaar. Still, the young Belgian already has a slight edge over the other three, as Bosz makes clear.
''The other boys still have to prove it. They do train with us, but they still don't have a proper seat. They belong to the first team, but they are – let’s say – the twenty-plus group. Noah belongs to the first twenty,'' Bosz concludes.

Bosz zet Noah echt voorop, maar ik blijf kritisch: hoe vaak krijgen we een talent dat warm draait en dan toch niet doorbreekt? Tbh als hij met die leeftijdsgroep als "eerste twintig" concurreert, dan moet hij het ook in fases van de wedstrijd laten zien. Anders is het na een kamp weer snel voorbij. 💀
Ik snap wel dat Bosz Van den Berg, Merién en Smolenaar nog niet hetzelfde niveau geeft, maar dit klinkt ook een beetje als contract-psychologie. Noah heeft al een streepje voor, oké, maar we moeten straks geen verrassende dip krijgen als hij opeens de basis moet dragen. 👀
"he is volwassen geworden" is echt het type coaching waar ik van hou. Dit is precies hoe je een jeugdspeler door laat groeien zonder hem te overhopen, gewoon stap voor stap. 🚀
Idk hoor, ik vind het wel gevaarlijk om zo hard te roepen dat anderen nog geen "stoeltje" hebben. Training is één ding, wedstrijden zijn de echte test. Maar als Noah volgend seizoen minuten pakt, dan heb je gewoon gelijk. 👀
That quote about him being "arrogant and irritant" two years ago is hilarious, but also promising. It sounds like Bosz is rewarding growth, not talent on day one. If he keeps that level, Van den Berg, Merién and Smolenaar gaan het nog lastig krijgen.
Tbh die vergelijking met "klein, arrogant en irritant mannetje" is grappig, maar ook wel spot on. Noah is nu echt meer dan een trainingsgast, die is blijkbaar net over de grens gekomen. Als hij de lijn doorzet, is "stoeltje" snel van hem.
Bosz zegt dat Noah "nu een volwaardig selectielid" is en dat voel je gewoon. Als je na dat jeugdperiode-stuk volwassenheid toont, dan pakt PSV meteen door. 🔥
Bosz is duidelijk fan van Fernandez, en eerlijk is eerlijk, dat "volwaardig selectielid" klinkt als vertrouwen. Als hij echt tussen de eerste twintig zit, dan betekent dat dat hij meer dan alleen mee-trainingsmateriaal is, helemaal in een kamp als Duitsland. 🔥
