Armando Obispo speaks out about a missed transfer: “It was hectic”
1 min readArmando Obispo was close to leaving PSV for good for the first time in twenty years last week on his way to further his career at RC Lens, France's number two last season. At the very last moment, this transfer was called off, and as a result Obispo has since returned to the PSV squad.
In conversation with PSV’s club channels, the defender for the first time has spoken at length about the aborted transfer to RC Lens. ''We didn’t work out the final details, so I’m back here'', says the club’s own player.
The bishop also speaks about hectic scenes. ''In terms of content, I can't say much about it, but it didn't go through. It was hectic. Many conversations, lots of waiting. In the end, I was back in the car to Eindhoven,'' continues the central defender.
Due to the stalled transfer, Obispo is still, for the time being, a player of PSV and talks about coming home now that he is back connected with Peter Bosz’s squad. ''We were indeed in the final phase. Otherwise you wouldn’t also go that way to wrap everything up. In the end, it didn’t work out. It’s frustrating for me personally. I was really looking forward to it and it would have been a great step, something I felt good about. PSV is also not a club that I would simply leave. It didn’t get finalized; now I’m back home'', says Obispo.

In addition, the defender talks about a setback. "Setbacks are part of life. When one door closes, other doors open again. I believe that everything happens for a reason. It’s also not that I specifically wanted to leave PSV. But this was a great moment to make the move. In the end, it wasn’t meant to be," Obispo says.
Yet the defender will not simply leave PSV behind. ''It's not that I leave PSV just like that, so it must be something that fits the picture'', said Obispo.
