The goal shifts to “Champions League semi-finals.”

1 min read

Peter Bosz has, for the third time in a row, become Dutch champion with PSV since his arrival in the summer of 2023. Nevertheless, Bosz has not yet seen such big success in Europe.

In its first season, PSV reached the round of 16 of the Champions League, where it was defeated over two legs by the eventual finalist Borussia Dortmund. Last season, it was hopelessly eliminated in the same stage by Arsenal, while the tie was settled with Juventus in the previous round.

This season, PSV was eliminated in the League Phase despite stunning wins at home against Napoli (6-2) and at Anfield against Liverpool (1-4). A 1-2 defeat in the final match against FC Bayern Munich proved fatal and led to elimination

For the coming season, PSV would like to reach the semi-finals of the billion-dollar tournament after Bosz had reached the last 16 twice earlier. ''But going even further would be very nice'', Bosz said Monday evening at Rondo on Ziggo Sport.

Bosz also says that it is partly to do with the fact that PSV has won the league title three times in a row. ''If you've done it three times, it's logical that the Champions League has the most prestige'', the coach said.

The 2025/2026 season is of course not yet completely over, but nonetheless Bosz is already looking ahead to the 2026/2027 season, and he has clearly set the objectives for that in place. ''To become champions, to win the cup, and to see whether we can reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. That would be nice,'' concludes the current coach.
