Support for Joey Veerman: 'Seems like a scapegoat'

He has a Dutch football vision that matches the extreme way of playing, for example, of Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich. Bosz manages that partly because, if I’ve listened well, he communicates excellently with his players,'' Borst said.
According to the Spartan, Bosz is able to instill belief in his players and, partly because of that, the coach is now winning trophies with PSV. ''And Joey Veerman is one of the key cogs. He was substituted early and has fallen out of favor. And it seems like a scapegoat'', Borst points to Veerman's early substitution during the match Netherlands - Austria at the 2024 European Championship.
In addition, the columnist is of the opinion that Koeman has been behaving disrespectfully toward PSV midfielder for two years now. ''It has escalated. "een ander karakter" is zo'n dooddoener. Borst heeft gelijk dat dit na twee jaar respectloos is. Bij PSV heb ik altijd gezien dat Veerman juist volwassen is, niet uit de toon valt. 👀
"En lijkt wel een zondebok" is precies waar het pijn doet, tbh. Veerman is a key link for PSV and still gets treated like he is disposable. I hope Koeman explains it properly, because this feels more like politics than football. 👀
Jammer voor Joey, maar ook wel opvallend dat Bosz juist zei dat er niks mis was met zijn karakter en Koeman nu zo hard ingrijpt. Als hij dan echt in de selectie zit van niveau, waarom dan maanden lang geen uitleg? 🤬
tbh dit voelt echt als karaktermoord. 14 assists + 8 goals en dan ineens "een ander karakter"... bruh wie gelooft dat nog?
i snappie Borst wel, Koeman doet alsof Veerman een probleem is met zijn "karakter" maar de cijfers spreken gewoon. Bruh, 2 jaar respectloos is wel heftig. Bosz was tenminste straight with him en nu wordt ie ineens zondebok... 💀⚽
If Koeman really said "another character" then yeah, that is honestly unfair. Joey had 14 assists and 8 goals, that is not the profile of someone who suddenly lost all football value. The early sub at EK proves he is just being labelled.
