‘PSV’er present at Netherlands training’
1 min readNow that the national competitions are almost over, the focus is fully directed to the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States. The same goes for the Netherlands national team.
Ronald Koeman’s preselection trains in Zeist over the coming days in the run-up to the global final tournament, and on Wednesday afternoon the national coach will announce his squad. It is clear that PSV player Joey Veerman, despite a strong season, does not need to count on a place in the squad.
Veerman is, in a sense, at odds with the national team coach, and the odds also seem quite high that the midfielder will no longer play for Oranje under Koeman, since the PSV player recently said that the coach no longer needs to call him. Guus Til, however, is the only PSV player who still has a chance of a spot in the squad.
Algemeen Dagblad reports that Til was welcomed by Koeman in Zeist on Monday and the national coach must be convinced that he has a right to a place in the World Cup squad. In addition to PSV's substitute striker, Luciano Valente, Kees Smit, Mark Flekken, Quinten Timber and former PSV player Noa Lang were also welcomed by the coach.
''The fact that the players are now training with Oranje does not mean that they are already certain of a place in the World Cup squad. They belong to the provisional selection of 40 men and are simply training because they have been idle for a week'', as the AD writes.
However, the newspaper believes that Til has a great chance of being selected. In addition, the newspaper thinks that goalkeeper Flekken and midfielder Timber are a sure thing, and there is still some doubt about Valente and Smit.

Guus Til erbij in Zeist is wmb the right move, zolang hij nu ook echt minuten en rollen krijgt. En stel Flekken en Timber "zekerheidje", dan is dat lekker voor de statistieken van PSV, maar ik wil vooral zien of Timber het ritme en tempo aankan tegen Oranje-standaarden. Valente en Smit blijven nog een beetje gokken volgens AD, dus afwachten.
"niet hoeft te rekenen op een plek" is wel hard als je kijkt naar het seizoen van Joey 😅. Ik vind het vooral vreemd dat ze hem niet meer bellen, want op basis van vorm moet je in elk geval testbaar zijn. Til mag dan wel welkom zijn, maar ik hoop dat PSV straks geen verliezers voelt omdat Koeman beleid maakt.
"Train omdat ze al een week stil hebben gelegen" is zo'n Koeman-zinnetje lol. Blij dat Til maandag welkom was, die heeft tenminste nog momentum na zijn seizoen bij PSV. Flekken en Timber zouden toch gewoon gewoon moeten zitten.
Joey Veerman out voor Oranje... tbh dat is echt jammer, want die speelde top bij PSV. Koeman en Veerman overhoop, dan snap ik dat je het sportief kan maken, maar dit voelt toch als een persoonlijke keuze. Guus Til is dan de enige met een kans, maar die gaat het lastig krijgen tegen die concurrentie.
Flekken en Quinten Timber als zekerheidje? 👀 als ze daar zo genoemd worden mogen ze wel echt presteren. Anders is het weer zo'n lijst waar ik niet op zit te wachten.
"Het feit dat de spelers nu met Oranje trainen..." klopt wel natuurlijk. maar wel zuur als je weet dat Joey juist zegt dat de bondscoach hem niet meer hoeft te bellen, dat voelt gewoon als een harde klap.
Til als enige PSV'er in de voorselectie is wel typisch. Maar als Koeman hem echt heeft verwelkomd in Zeist, dan zit daar waarschijnlijk al een plan achter. Wachten op de definitieve selectie dus, maar dit voelt niet slecht voor PSV. 👀
Tbh vind ik dit wel logisch. Joey Veerman was geweldig voor PSV, maar als Koeman hem niet meer hoeft te bellen dan is het gewoon klaar. Benieuwd of dat echt tactisch is of puur relatiegedoe.
Joey Veerman niet mee naar het WK vind ik echt onbegrijpelijk. Als hij zo'n seizoen draait dan moet je toch gewoon talent belonen? 🔥
Guus Til blijft de enige PSV'er met echte WK-kansen. Ik ben benieuwd of Koeman hem ziet als impact optie, want veerman heeft toch meer voetbal laten zien dit seizoen.
joey veerman weer buiten de selectie, bruh... tbh hij had echt een sterk seizoen. als koeman zegt dat hij niet meer hoeft te bellen dan snap ik die keuze niet helemaal.
