Former PSV player clears up rumors surrounding Dick Advocaat: “That’s incredibly intense.”

Last week, Johan Derksen spoke rather critically on Vandaag Inside about the way former PSV coach Dick Advocaat has returned as head coach of Curaçao. Three months ago, the born Hageneer stepped down from his duties due to family circumstances, but has now decided to return.

According to Derksen, Advocaat behaved scandalously toward Fred Rutten, also a former coach of PSV. ''Advocaat has left that team in the lurch twice. The urgency was each time attributed to tragic family circumstances, but I have heard from well-informed sources that it wasn't that bad. It had more to do with homesickness than with tragic family circumstances'', the bearded analyst said last week in VI.

In the end, Advocaat called TV presenter Wilfred Genee to speak out about the words of Johan Derksen. According to fellow table guest and former PSV player René van der Gijp, Derksen’s words are not true.

After that, the Dordrecht analyst continues with the situation of Advocaat’s daughter. ''That’s not something you open a bottle of champagne for. That is unimaginably intense and it really hits hard. The only luck is that the medication works. The chance of that is very small, but in her case it does work. That doesn’t mean she’s healthy, because she has metastatic lung cancer. It’s not the flu and it’s not pneumonia. Metastatic lung cancer is something that makes your whole world collapse,'' the former PSV player concludes.
