PSV winger has no doubts: “Just the biggest club in the Netherlands.”

Against all expectations, goalkeeper Niek Schiks made his debut last season with PSV’s first team. The last line of defense played an important role in the away match against FC Groningen (1-2), where Schiks repeatedly kept Peter Bosz’s side on their feet.

Also in the lost away match against FC Volendam (2-1), the goalkeeper was under the bar, after which Matej Kovar again became the first-choice keeper when Kovar was again injury-free. As a result, Schiks had to do it with a role as third goalkeeper behind the Czech and Nick Olij.

To get more playing time, Schik will be loaned out to fellow provincial side RKC Waalwijk by PSV next season. The loanee is at least looking forward to his time in Waalwijk.

''I'm very happy to be here. It's still a bit of getting used to remembering all the names; of course, that was different with PSV,'' says the goalkeeper to Brabants Dagblad.

The goalkeeper saw RKC as an ideal stepping stone in his career. ''This summer it became clear pretty quickly from PSV that they wanted to extend my contract and that I would be loaned out. That was exactly what I wanted as well. RKC got involved right away afterwards and I went along immediately'', says Schiks.

Additionally, the goalkeeper also has no doubt about which club is the biggest in the country. ''PSV is simply the biggest club in the Netherlands; there’s no need to dance around it when you become champions three times in a row and you see what kind of money is paid for some players. If a club like that wants to continue working with you, that is always a very great honor. But of course, I personally also wanted to start getting minutes,'' the goalkeeper said.
