Peter Bosz signals: “I can provide a lot of reasons.”

Since his appointment as coach of PSV, Peter Bosz has been national champion three times. In the 2026/2027 season, Bosz and PSV will go for the fourth consecutive league title.

Last season, PSV became champions of the Netherlands with a whopping nineteen-point lead over second-placed Feyenoord. With Ajax, which finished fifth, the difference was even 28 points.

However, Bosz thinks that PSV will not find it as easy in the 2026/2027 season as they did last season. The coach says this in an interview with De Telegraaf.

''The moment you don’t become champions is only getting closer. A lot of people found the first championship exciting, maybe even the second championship as well, but by the third time they think: 'Well, wouldn't it be nice again if it were Feyenoord or Ajax, or maybe even once an outsider.' You’re going to get that,'' says the coach.

In addition, Bosz also points to competitors Ajax and Feyenoord. According to the trainer, it depends entirely on PSV whether both clubs will come closer.

In particular, the people of Amsterdam are clearly active on the transfer market, and that has also not escaped the attention of the PSV coach. ''And I can give you a whole host of reasons why it becomes more difficult. If you look at Ajax, then I think it is pretty clear what is going on there. They are doing everything they can to become champions this year. They are not investing in youth, but are going to do it with players who know how to handle pressure. And they are all good players, who have all already proven themselves. And at Feyenoord, the coach who finished second and qualified for the Champions League has left, and they’ve taken a new path'', Bosz says.

In addition to the fourth championship, the coach is also working to significantly reduce the number of goals conceded from last season (45). “The most important point where we can improve is that we conceded 45 goals last season. That’s really too many and it needs to come down. The challenge we face is to put together a better team without Ismaël Saibari and without Jerdy Schouten. It is clear that over the past three years both players have played a major role. So that’s really a big challenge we’re facing,” the manager concludes.
