1 min readJust like last year, PSV will also play the traditional Light City derby against fellow city club FC Eindhoven next summer as preparation for the 2026/2027 season. The Eindhovens Dagblad brings this news to light.
Last year Peter Bosz’s team secured the Lichtstad Cup by winning 3-2 against the little brother. Even the season before that, Bosz’s side won 3-2 against the club on the Aalsterweg.
The match will most likely be played on Tuesday 28 July. This is a number of days after the PSV FANday on Saturday 25 July and a number of days before the match for the Johan Cruyff Shield against the Cup winner AZ on Sunday 2 August.

Wie gaat er eigenlijk spelen, i wonder. Its like 28 juli derby, then 2 augustus Johan Cruijff Schaal vs AZ, thats a tight rhythm, no time for passengers. 😅
"de traditionele Lichtstadderby" always sounds nicer than it plays sometimes, but i respect the tradition. That 3-2 in both prior editions makes me think FC Eindhoven will press hard again, so PSV better be ready on the turnovers. 💯
"Vorig jaar wist de ploeg van Peter Bosz beslag te leggen" ... tbh i want to see the same intensity again, not just the result. Also that Cruijffschaal on 2 August is around the corner, so use this like a proper tune-up. 💯
3-2 again would be comedy at this point, but i just hope they keep control instead of chasing the game. If we concede early, FC Eindhoven usually wants to press and turn it into chaos. smh
Tuesday 28 July... that's a proper week of PSV football. Also 3-2 in both Lichtstaddercup years, thats honestly a pattern. i hope they take it seriously defensively because FC Eindhoven will come with chaos and transitions.
Not gonna lie, these friendlies against FC Eindhoven are good for vibes, but i just hope it doesnt become an excuse for sloppy defending. If the plan is rotation, do it early so it doesnt affect game state later. 🤡
Last year's 3-2 was so nervy but i loved how PSV kept pushing even after moments of doubt. If they do it again, make it more controlled in those last 15 minutes, tbh. 👀
