German millionaires’ club points to PSV player: “A real legend”

1 min read

Last summer PSV took the French striker Alassane Pléa from Borussia Mönchengladbach in Germany. However, PSV couldn’t enjoy Pléa’s qualities for long, as the Frenchman was badly injured in the second league match at FC Twente (0-2) after a tackle by defender Robin Pröpper.

Because of this, the striker was sidelined for the entire season, and there was also no return at the end of the season in store for Pléa. Currently, the forward is working on his recovery, and the Frenchman hopes to be able to shine next season in PSV’s red-and-white. That will probably work out, because the French forward is considered a quality player.

The media team of PSV went for the series Here in the South of PSV Play to visit Borussia Mönchengladbach, the previous employer of the current PSV striker. Those Fohlen can speak only positively about Pléa, who at the million-euro club just over the border near Venlo was extremely popular. Borussia Mönchengladbach is considered a sleeping giant in the Bundesliga, where a lot is possible but it doesn’t always work out.

So says former footballer Olivier Neuville, nowadays assistant coach of Gladbach, that Lasso means a lot to the fans of the club from Mönchengladbach. ''For the supporters, he has really become a legend. For Borussia, he was really one of the best signings of recent years. I hope that PSV next season will see the real Alassane Pléa,'' Neuville says, expressing his expectation to PSV's club channels.

Fellow attacker and fellow countryman Franck Horonat, active at Gladbach since 2023 and a teammate of Lasso for two seasons, is positive about his fellow forward. ''He is someone who is enormously respected by the fans. Everyone is grateful to him. Off the pitch, he always kept laughing and was always there for the fans. Supporters love that'', Horonat said.

Ngl, Gladbach saying he was one of their best signings makes me optimistic. But the injury part worries me, because one bad knock can ruin rhythm for strikers. Hope PSV's medical staff has done everything right. 🔥

"Voor de supporters is hij echt een legende geworden." Okay, but can he become a PSV legend too? No excuses next season, we need goals. 💯

Pröpper's tackle really cost us the season. Still feels unfair that Pléa went from "quality signing" to sidelined. If he comes back strong next year, i'll eat my words. ❤️

That Neuville quote is pure respect, but tbh we will only care about what he does on the pitch. If Pléa really returns to form, it could be a huge boost for PSV's build-up and finishing. 👀
