FC Twente does not expect any gifts from PSV: “We’ll have to be very good.”

This weekend already marks the final matchday of the Eredivisie season 2025/2026 on the calendar. For PSV, the match against third-placed FC Twente is scheduled at home at the Philips Stadium.

In the last matchday, the Tukkers won at home 4-0 against Sparta Rotterdam. Thanks to this, and also in part because of defeats suffered by their rivals NEC and Ajax, John van den Brom’s team took over third place, which grants qualification for the preliminary round of the Champions League.

A victory at the Philips Stadium means that the Tukkers will enter next season in the qualifying round of the billions league. With any other result, Van den Brom’s team will have to look to their rivals NEC and Ajax.

The Nijmegen players play at home against Go Ahead Eagles and the Amsterdammers travel to Friesland for the match with sc Heerenveen. Despite many speculations, people in Enschede do not expect any gifts from PSV.

''We have to get to work, that for sure. We’ll have to be very good, and maybe hope that PSV has a slightly less good day. I don’t believe they’ll take it a bit easier. For PSV it’s their last home match of a great season, so you want to show something. They will give it their best, we will too. It’ll be a great match. We’re ready for it'', says midfielder Thomas van den Belt to match reporter Geert-Jan Jakobs of Voetbal International.

The Tukkers do not feel hopeless in Eindhoven. ''In big matches we have done quite well this season. We beat Ajax, we beat Feyenoord and AZ at home, and away we came close; against PSV, I felt that despite the defeat, we also didn't play badly here,'' said the midfielder.
