Bosz hopes for a return: “I want to ask him how he sees it.”
1 min readLast summer, the French striker Alassane Pléa was taken over by PSV from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The experienced striker was of great value at the start of this season, but soon disaster struck for the Frenchman.
In the away match against FC Twente on 17 August 2025, Pléa suffered a serious injury after a hard tackle by FC Twente defender Robin Pröpper. Since then, the forward has been sidelined, but over the past few months he has resumed training.
Last February, the striker had surgery for the second time, delaying his return to PSV’s first team. This coming Sunday, the Frenchman could make his comeback in the squad of Peter Bosz precisely against the Tukkers.
Bosz himself in any case has good hopes that Pléa could make his comeback as early as this coming Sunday. ''I hope it with all my heart. Today (Wednesday, ed.) he took part in the team game for the first time. He was immediately the best of everyone, I really mean it. If you look at pure quality in that training. He has already taken part in a six-a-side against two and in the positional game as a free man, but not in an eleven-a-side match, where everything is played at full throttle. He was very good in that,'' says the coach in a roundtable discussion, as quoted by VoetbalPrimeur.

In addition, the head coach for training is planning to hold a conversation with the experienced forward next Friday. ''The conversation with Lasso is the most important. We talk about a player with a lot of experience. I want to ask him how he sees it. It won't be for half a game and also not for a starting spot, but I want to give him the chance to be on the pitch for a little while yet this season. The question remains: is that wise? Is it worth it? Then I'll sit down with him calmly and we’ll look at the reaction to this training,'' Bosz says about it.
Yet according to the coach, it is highly likely for sure that the Frenchman will not come on if PSV are trailing. ''It is not: we are 0-1 down at halftime and I put him on—that won't happen. The bitter irony is also this: it will happen against the club it happened against,'' the coach concludes.

The part about "not for a half and not for a starting spot" is kinda reassuring tbh. Still, if he is the best in 6 vs 2, 11 vs 11 is a different world, especially after two operations...
Bosz approach is sensible. Not getting him in if PSV is behind at halftime, makes sense for fitness and risk management. But tbh, if we need goals, we can't always be that cautious, can we? 👀
That quote from Bosz about Pléa being "immediately the best" in training sounds huge. If he's really ready for full intensity, fair chance he makes the squad, but i still think we need to be careful with rushing it back.
If he was the best in the training game already, why are we still acting like it might not happen? I just hope the Twente match does not ruin his comeback again... 😅
Hope this means Pléa is actually back for real, not just 20 minutes to slow the game down. Also Bosz saying he wants to talk to him about
